Arranging pickup/shipping of engine from eBay?

I didn’t find much during a search on here but has anyone arranged pickup of an engine (or other freight) from an eBay seller across the country. I found an engine and I’m pondering buying it. The seller stated they would crate it but would not arrange pickup and shipping which seems fair as I’m guessing it takes quite a bit of work on their end.

I wouldn’t mind investing the time but don’t really know where to begin. I guess start calling around freight companies?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Where is located and where will it be shipped to? maybe there's someone at the source location that can help.

Typically a motor will need a forklift to get on and off a truck and so needs to be freighted. With a small motor, Greyhound might work. Put it in a big plastic tote bin.

Anaheim Ca to St Charles Mo (30mins west of St Louis).

It’s a Kz1000 engine with some extras so it won’t be a small crate. I found 210lbs but I’m guessing the extras will be another 20-30lbs.

Crate on a pallet and you can request tailgate lift service for pickup and the best price would be ltl to the closest terminal to you. Then you go get it with a pickup truck. Gonna cost a bit but a good engine is worth it.

Liftgate pickup/delivery is what will drive the cost up. I have used YRC freight for LTL. they have good rates but make sure the guy crates it really well. LTL shipping is rough on product.

Thanks for the recommendations. I used a 3’x3’x3’ 300lb crate with liftgate service at pickup and delivery for a quote with Uship. $600 to get from Anaheim to outside StL, Mo. I unchecked the lift service at the pickup and it decreased to $455.
