Austin area help

Hey guys. Ive been reading a lot on my current trip about cafe racers and would like to build a bike. Any help with resources or places to go in the Austin area would be much appreciated. I have no experience wrenching on motorcycles but have worked on vehicles before. Also since craigslist and ebay seem to have nothing available in the area a place to go to find the actual bike to start with would be nice.

Stop by some vintage bike shops and make friendly with the staff.

Heres a few:

Also hit up any local shows and get togethers:

Shake hands, check out bikes, learn what you can...

Bring a few bucks to buy a round of beers, or of going to a shop do it around lunch time and bring a pizza or something with you.

If you are really interested in learning and being a part of the scene you'll make friends. Just dont be that d-bag who doesnt know when enough is enough... ;)

Ah yes. The infamous "that guy". A common breed around gun stores and ranges.

Thanks for the links. Ill have to check them out when Im back in country.

Just keep your eyes on Craigslist for a bike at a decent price. You may need to expand your search area to a few different cities.
