Thanks brother, Im a huge fan of yours. The tile/hardwood Combe is fantastic.
Was the wood floor already installed? How did you cut it to fit tiles?

Re: Re: The Black Knight, Loading on Service Bench

Laid out the tiles on top of the hardwood with grout spacers. Traced the tiles with a sharpie. Used a combination of a circular saw, oscillating saw, and a hammer/chisel to cut the shapes into the wood. Lots of work for such a small area of tile. Ha.

I don't have enough superlatives for that bench. And it's clearly not just beautifully made but brilliantly practical. I'd like one, please and thank you!

And this bike looks killer too, fantastic!

Re: The Black Knight, Back to work.

3-4 days w 3-1/2 gallons of apple cider vinegar, rinsed w water, rinsed w alcohol-dried w heat gun, then a light coat of Marvel Mystery oil.

Minor flash rust but clean down to the bottom.

The zinc coating on spokes on the rear wheel are black-ish-gray.

So working to polish them to match the super nice front rim.

Kanticoy recommended steel wool w kerosene, no kerosene on hand so tired steel wool w penetrant.
It worked but it was a bunch a work.
Tried Hurcos chrome cleaning secret. Cooktop cleaner w paper towel.
It worked as well and was the same amount of labor.

Gonna stick w cooktop cleaner w paper towels, as it may be easier on the zinc coating.

So far I got 3 done and 33 more to go...I will work on them when I dont feel like doing anything else. ::)

Re: The Black Knight, Back to work.

LOL. Just an FYI, that cooktop cleaner is basically calcined kaolin and feldspar (that's where "cerama" comes from) in a cleaner base, so you could come up with a formula to make yourself pretty cheaply.
