the Black Knight, a 400four tale.

Re: Black Knight, Devil in the Details

Short of burning down the whole garage I tried everything to free the bolts from the case.

A lot of penetrant, heat gun, electric impact then moved onto torch and impact driver!

I dont really need to break anything here. :p

I got all but three. Just working around them.

This job is big for the little Dremel scotchbrite pads.

Irk recommended these Roloc wheels. Yes they work very well. 8) Thanks bro.

After Rolock wheel, then Dremel, then 0000 steel wool and lacquer thinner.

I still have to do a lot of cleaning before the halves are ready.

Since I had steel wool and thinner handy I went ahead and "gently" swabbed the old Hondabond off sealing surfaces.

Its like a 120 grit plastic they are pretty flexible and pretty tough lasting.

They also come in 80, 50, 36 grits. 1, 2 and 3 inch. Im using the 2 inch 120 grit.

Had I spent another $50 I coulda got the 22 liter and then it would have fit. LOL. ::)

Re: Black Knight, Hot Pine-Sol in the morning

Saving me from myself...I had the garage doors open.

But, Rachel made me move the whole production outdoors. ;)

How good are those ratchet type tap holders, a fitter at work as one and it is magic for chasing threads.

I love them!!!

I would prefer to use the drill for this. But Im afraid of getting it cross threaded in the aluminum.

So it gets a hand job. ;)

Re: Black Knight, Hot Pine-Sol in the morning

Re: Black Knight, Hot Pine-Sol in the morning

Says the guy who makes sure even the o-rings are correct.

Keep up the good work. Maybe look at shaving the head some and getting the squish band set. Little bit more compression for your rat rod engine.
