Been Around the Block
Well i noticed this week that my low beam, park light and speedo light were all out at the same time, i was dreading having to trouble shoot bad wiring but when i stuck the multimeter on it all was fine with no shorts and power to all the sockets. i chucked some new globes in and they all work,
So it would seem with one of the other guys also saying he blew lights at high rpm's that the ace has a random habit of throwing out a voltage spike big enough to blow the lightsat high rpms, . anyone else had the same problem.?
short term solution is not to turn on the lights at high rpm and long term , change the globes for led items that can handle a few extra volts thrown at them.
the other option for a quick fix is a diode or two in series with the headlight to reduce the volts. but then it might be too dim at lower rpms.
i already have an led tail light so that didnt blow, but first stage is the headlight and dash lights to led , then later on redo the indicators as well, but they dont tend to blow as they really dont get turn on at high rpm and they flash so have a chance to cool.
so if you are going to be out riding hard at night i would suggest taking a spare headlight and tail light globe along with a phillips head screw driver to get them open.
