Looking good - did you use BMW OEM braided fuel line? It's available from BMW for a reasonable price. I like it a lot - used it on my XS650 too.

No but i probably will.
I have to swap out the rear wheel and tire, get new bars and a battery and she'll be rideable. I am moving it to my moms 4 car garage (where i keep my other bikes) to finish it up. I have to swap out the rear tire before i can move it.

Won these headers on eBay!
Got both the left and right. The ones i have are really bad on the one side cracked through. I'm bidding on replacement exhaust as well

Re: BMW 1974 R90/6 Restore (for now)

Got the rear wheel on. I thought i had a tire that would fit but it turns out that the tire I bought was a 130/90 18 too big :-( but the tire that can on the lester isn't that bad.

Rear wheels on the Airheads are a PITA no doubt. Very tight fit with the fender and pipes etc. etc. Helps to deflate the tire and raise the rear end by putting the center stand on a block of wood.

Re: BMW 1974 R90/6 Restore (for now)

I am replacing the rear shock anyway so i pulled it and the wheel went on. A guy on advridr sold me a set of exhausts and rear shocks, both in gold condition for $100 shipped.

Did a quick riser polish. Looking good and that was only 5 min of work.

Re: BMW 1974 R90/6 Restore (for now)

Put the "newish" handlebars on today with new grips. The throttle cables were a little sticky, but after a little lubricant they're working like a champ! I also got the "newish" headers in today and found out that I will need a special exhaust nut wrench, which I just bought...

This thing pisses me off to no end. I hope the engineer responsible for that nonsense went to his grave feeling terrible about it.

Tim's right, though - thumbs up all around!

Hey Tim, I watched Pulp Fiction again the other day and I was like oh YEA... good one!

Re: BMW 1974 R90/6 Restore (for now)

Got the exhaust wrench today! Dam that was fast shipping!
The wrench worked out great. I had to give it a couple rubber mallet love taps.
Pulled the old rusting headers off and put the new ones on. I have to get a cross pipe for the exhaust.
