Thanks man! I have a tubing bender with a die specially for 1/2" square tubing. It does a nice job. I used the same one to build the rack pictured somewhere above in this thread.

The unfortunate thing is the fender brace doesn't work after all. Well it does, but you've gotta disassemble the forks to install it due to a lack of clearance to fit over the bottom of the fork sliders. I might make another one sometime, but for now I used the vice to smash in the stock fender brace to clear the tire. I also cut a chunk off the fender and bolted on a flap from the front of an elsinore fender. The stock fender dang near touched the ground and I was afraid of busting it off on a rock or something. At least the rubber flap will bend instead of the fender breaking.

Have you seen any of the old style desert bike fork braces? Some of the better designs require some machine work. Basically a steel hoop with two aluminum clamps machined that fit around the diameter of the lower fork leg. The hoop can be left a bit long for adjustment. Got the rack finished up. Fun fact, the subframe on these aren't symmetrical..

I shoved a hot tungsten through the one there last night while tacking up the rack mounts so I'm glad I waited lol

I bet. Smart move. Just like don't put fresh painted parts on until all the cutting and grinding is done.

Ha yep. I have several things that have rusty grinder dust in the paint. Lesson Learned

Absolutely. This always had one, it just hung WAYY off the back behind the passenger seat. My wife doesn't ride and my son isn't big enough to ride (yet), so this will fit with the solo seat better.
Hmm... maybe I can mount Lenny's car seat to the rack...

This is fairly thin wall square tubing, which is a good bit lighter weight than solid round. I weigh 235 ish most days and stood on the rack and it held up fine. I'm hoping that a lunch box or duffel full of camping gear doesn't end up weighing more than that haha
 
Rack looks great. What about a tank rack to keep weight centrally located? Back a million years ago when I used to ride 70+ miles each way to work, I slung a soft back over the tank and that gave me somewhere to rest on when trying to cover miles in minimal time. A proper tank bag would be way better than what I did, but that was better than too much weight too far back.

Fortunately, yours basically sits where a passenger would go, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Thanks! I will also be running a tank bag for the longer trips. I have used a couple purpose built ones over the years and they work well, if not just a bit frustrating when its time to re fuel. The newest one I picked up uses straps instead of magnets. While its more secure, its another step yet to get to the filler.
 
A tank bag with a map clear pocket works well on the TAT. There are areas where GPS/phone service is sketchy. Nice to have printed copy when that happens. I
 
+1. I used google maps turn instructions printed out on pages in a ziplock taped tona tank bag to get the 1500 miles from my place to Troybilts
