Boingk's Honda XR600

boingk

Standard gearhead.
Picking this thing up on Saturday in preparation for my 'Around Australia' trip next year sometime. I'll detail the build here if you guys want, but joined advrider.com as they've got a killer archive of very specific information. Meanwhile I'll leave you with some eBay pictures...

I'm riding this baby away! Wish me luck, hopefully I won't need it haha.

Congrats! Sounds like fun.

I have a local friend who has 2x of these for sale ... after watching a co-worker struggle to get his KTM LC4 (400) thumper started I'm not so sure I want to take on a 600!

get a pair of early 90's CBR600 wheels for it, should bolt right in and give you a supermoto ;D

I'm not so sure I want to take on a [kickstart] 600!

They have an automatic decompression valve, and the comp ratio is only 9:1 stock. I've seen my Dad kickstart an 800cc BMW boxer twin, so a 600cc single may indeed be a bit challenging without decompression gear.

PJ - Damn this cross-continental communication! Ahhhh! ;D

Would love a set of supermoto wheels for it, but I reckon I'll just stick with the stockers. You can actually get some interesting tyres for them in the stock sizes, like the Bridgestone BT45's that I'm partial to for my roadbikes. This thing comes with brand new Pirelli dirt hoops, though... can't wait.

Already ordered a Unifilter performance airfilter replacement, and a new chain & sprocket set (14, 15 & 48 set)... where should I start a build thread? Trackers?

Cheers - boingk

Congrats Boingk, Put the build in trackers, even though it is kind of an adventure tourer I assume you are building. ADV Rider is a great resource for the distance touring stuff but we like it here too.

Cheers,
