Brat/rat first chop

It’s really hard to tell by these photos. The first seat is a great seat. It seems to be really well made. But, something just isn’t right for this build. Definitely not what I had in mind. The second seat, however, is what I had imagined. Second seat is really going to tie everything together, I think. The first seat will for sure be great on another bike

Both look great man, nice choices. Can’t lie, I like the first one. But what you had in your mind when you set up to build this thing is what it’s all about. Like how it’s shaping up a lot

I like both seats, either will work but, I second the above.

So who is the guy in Rhode Island, does he have a web site?

Weston Boege. It’s counter balance customs. There’s a lady in New York too. Corinna Mantlo her shop is via-meccanica, but it’s pretty high end. I’d like to eventually upgrade the leather along with a few other things. At the moment I’m pushing for a finished product. I am going to go ahead with a break upgrade tho

Sunny skies today. I’ll be posting some better photos for sure. Planning on knocking out some more paint. Here’s how my top triples turned out. Couldn’t be more pleased

Heading off to the fab shop. I’m going to drop it off with a friend to weld up the back end and battery tray. Here’s how she sets at the moment while I spray various little things

Seats....fwiw I think I prefer the second diamond stitched seat, it doesn't look as comfy but it's all in the foam type.
Not sure what your tank colour scheme is to be, but if there was a black/dark area along the bottom edge that tied into the seat line the seat/tank join might be disguised as there's still a gap with the second seat.

Coming along...:)

The second seat for sure. Keeping everything black for the most part. I haven’t decided on the tank yet. I’m leaning toward incorporating some silver flake.

Couldn’t help myself. Started assembling the front end. Everything looks nice enough. Functionality is slightly improved. Working on locating a brembo caliper for the front. Held up the headlight to see it better.

Reflecting on everything...... after spending time and talking with actual builders...... I’m realizing I haven’t even scratched the surface of what’s possible. I haven’t in any way “built” a bike. I took something that was crappy and making it new again, for sure. But I haven’t engineered, invented, or created anything original. I’m leaning on the shoulders of others who have.

Sometime along the way I realized this without saying, and decided to use it as an opportunity to uphold those people by showcasing their hard work as well. Hopefully I can do them justice. I don’t want the attention, or anything more than a better bike. I only decided to document here, so maybe one day I can look back.
It’s all just a little surreal, and very much a different kind of adventure.

Here’s a shot of the front end. I use fork gators to keep the bugs and dirt out of seals. I’ve got them on my Honda too. I don’t particularly care for the looks, but the functionality overrides that for me. The fork brace is a solid piece of gear as well.

Yeah, I used the HHB fork brace on my old XS650 build.... very beefy and well made.

Nice, I've never really "Built" a bike but I have modded, improved, cleaned, painted a ton LOL I will someday truly build one from scratch from hand made bits but it may be when I retire.

I've shnaffled a few things into the kitchen for a clean or an assemble, and it rarely ends well. Fab 1 foam air filter spray was a low point. That stuff absolutely stinks, and I got it all over the backsplash and wife's chopping board. She kicked right off.

I have one of those great room kitchen/ dining room deals where the kitchen is separated by bar from the dining space. I have built several engines there.
