Brat/rat first chop

For mounting the front, you can form loops over the braces on each side (total four) and attach with 4 or 5 mm nylok nuts and button head allen screws (my local Ace carries them). For the rear, look at rotating an original for that size (from your favorite source, maybe even a DTT member donation) forward and cutting off extra.

How about something like this?

You'll need to find a fender I guess from the same model bike (maybe not - anything that'll fit, there should be lots) and then mount it underneath the bracket you still have on your subframe. If the arc of the fender fits well then you wouldn't necessary need to cut it - mount the taillight to the end and the other end'll stop a load of shit from flying into your pods. Otherwise, cut the fender, mount it underneath the brace you have on you subframe (you may need to weld another brace, shown (poorly) in blue dots, and then cut up a piece of plexiglass (shown in green) and zip tie it to your frame - again this'll stop shit from entering your pods. I did this on a bike I was working on - the plexiglass pretty much disappears and solves the shit-into-carbs problem.

I’m thinking about a small tail right off the back of the seat. The plan for the tail light is a light and tag bracket kit I got off tc bro’s. Bolts right onto the shock mount, or I can mount it on the rear axle. I’m hoping it will look right, because the quality is nice.

I’ve seen that on a bike and it totally works. Small fender mounted right off the back of the hoop/subframe. Good call
The plexiglass idea could be good to keep shite out of your pods.

I like the plexiglass idea too. Totally a material that’s been flying under the radar

And to smooth everything up on the frame. Grinding spots no one will ever see.

I’ve been looking for that thing that just jumps out at me as a problem, specifically for the speed wobbles. Neck bearings didn’t look terrible. Rear, and front wheel bearings I’ve seen worse. Swing arm bushings.... pretty god awful but I still wasn’t totally convinced. Then today after moving the rear wheel around the shop I noticed a spoke loose. Then I get to inspecting it and realize all the dang spokes are loose. Pretty sure that will do it

Tuned the spokes like I used to do on my fixie, then moved on to shaving the left fork. Keeping the right side brake. Thinking about doing a brembo upgrade, but I’m running out of funds

Someone please send me great examples of painted wheels. I’m going to have to repaint these. Not particularly thrilled about it. They are structurally great wheels. Their just butt ugly stripped down. Thinking I’ll paint now, and build new ones as funds become available.

Painting wheels? Shit. Don't look at my thread. You'll change your mind immediately.

Epoxy chassis paint. Clean em, mask them, if tires on, run playing cards around the deflated tires and hit em. Poor mans powder and if you apply correct per the can and let cure, pretty tough stuff.

Playing around with drilling the left hand case for air flow. Swapped out the worm gear. I didn’t do a very good job. I had good intentions and didn’t follow through. The holes are on the bottom side however, and I’m not sure it will matter much to me. I’ve got another case if I can’t live with itView attachment 221853

If you use a 'step drill' carefully the edges can be radiused off quite nicely.
Still following your exploits with interest...carry on!

Well, I’m keeping the inner rear fender for a fact. It’s keeping the crud off my carbs. I’ve ridden it in the rain without a front fender...... never again. So I’m assuming I’ll have to get something undrilled to mount to the fork brace. I’ve got something in mind for that. The rear outer fender....... stumped

Fenders....I sourced used alloy guards from a swap meet. Rear was mounted on tags I welded to the subframe, using buttonhead allen bolts fed from underside so little or no risk of snagging/ripping the tyre tread.

Up front I made my own mounts out of 8mm thickwall tube, bent

by a friend on a tube bender to the correct width, then I cut down the original Honda mount to use the bolted part and blind welded the tubes to the mounts. I then used buttonheads and dome nuts to fix it in place.

Turned out really nice! Great bike

Lol! The wheels were originally painted, and then I got wild with some brake clean and it started melting away. I’ve got some time to work everything out. My seat is taking for freaking ever, and I really need that to finish up the frame.
