budget sv650 cafe racer

Spent time today doing a final trim of the tank shape, so apart from changing the fuel filler area, that is the look..
That is the final shape no real changes now just need to get stuck in and finish it.
Plan is original hinge mount on the rear, standard petcock, Honda fuel sender compatible with the gauge cluster. Harley sportster fuel cap boss and my quick release pins at the front.
I have all the parts so its all a go.
Apart from that the paddock stand is sinking from all the wet weather and there are match box cars down the muffler I need fish out $%@$

Been a horrible year but getting into it again, the tank still not finished but with the new fairing the plan is to have bar end indicators with the bar end mirrors so this is how the adapter is going for that. Buying some taps this afternoon so it will all screw together

Had a wee failure, nearly finished the second one and I cracked it in half mounting it in the vice to tap the 12mm thread.
After a rethink I have made a new narrower adapter using the alloy mounting bobbin supplied with the mirror.
Drilled and tapped so the weight will be taken on the 12mm rod, just as well because the indicator mounting thread I discovered is only plastic.

My throttle lock / cruise control arrived to day.
Most my bikes have had one of some description but this is the most solid piece I have had.
Because I'm an old fart with carpel tunnel and 2 trigger fingers on my right hand this type of thing is needed even on a 1/2 hr ride.
I don't use it as a cruise control just a few seconds here and there to give my hand a shake and flex.
This one is quite heavy not plastic and appears to have a very positive push button action.

Watching for a report on the throttle lock. If I don't have throttle lock/cruise/rocker of some kind, the right hand goes numb. On the GL1800 and now the Spyder, I hit cruise on any straight. Not been happy with the locks I've tried on the classic bikes, but a throttle rocker has helped.

I have owned 3 other types of throttle lock, 1 was a good unit and I regretted selling it on the bike. the other two required a lot of sorting out to get the working and turning the on and off was not the best but they did work.
I had a look today and I like the slim design it fits in well clamping on the throttle tube, but I am running a off road throttle body and it has an extra step between the main body and the tube about 5mm.
Even so I will fit it straight on but the tongue that moves out to rub on the body only moves 2mm, and it would work if I stacked the self adhesive fiction pads but I think I will make a collar to fit over the step and just use 1 fiction pad.

Please excuse how grubby it is I have been doing body work on the tank I am making.
I already had a gap at the top of the grip, such a gap is not needed the throttle lock piece that clamps is metal and slim about 2mm and just to check I mounted it on the clutch side which had no gap(no tube so couldn't move)it slid in and is solid enough to pull it against the rubber grip creating clearance to the indicator block and clamp it solid. But I would recommend a couple of mm clearance between the grip and the throttle block.

These are my first thoughts and I really like it.

A little more progress. Handle bars in position to suit the fairing. Running my custom bent bars allowed me to rotate them to maintain ergonomics.
Smoothed some welds and massaging knee and bar dents, slapped some black primer on to just get better prospective.

Ok, not something I can really afford but found a gs750 front rim with dual discs and re-laced to 18inch. I am pretty sure I could make it fit my by to finish the old school styling.
This brings up a lot of questions.
1. The gs wheel is skinny (should I just go with it? )
2. Should I re-lace to 17inch and standard sv size.
3. Don't think finding a wire spoke rear will be difficult but needs to match
Thinking I could could use some used supermoto wheels for parts?

This is just OPINION so please take it with some salt- Looking at the bike with the cast wheels, it seems right. With that beefy tubular frame and the general lines of the bike, it just doesn't seem like wire spokes belong. But that's just opinion.
It goes without saying that I'm loving the bike how you got it right now!

Yes I don't disagree and It's money and delay I can't afford.
It won't be the same but I like this as well.
