CAFE CREME - BOARD.....TRACKER

Newest addition to the stash - repro 1900's BSA Burman hand change quadrant and lever.

I'll hook it up to the gearchange to make life easier pulling off / stopping. Got plans for a decent wooden cover for the lever as it looks a bit too " laser cut "......... which of course - it is ! And only £15 !! Couldn't get it made for that.

Today we got the rear wheel perfectly aligned using my pal's laser equipment and that allowed us to check the engine and chain lines for centre. All good.

Made a novice error and didn't check the TS125 rear sprocket [ .428 pitch ] ....... the Virago gearbox sprocket and my new chain .520 pitch !!! Oooops.

Painless way out, the TS125 gearbox sprocket is a direct replacement for the Virago and a new .428 chain and we're all back to square one.

Next stage is to tack the jig spacers in place to the new alignment, then we can continue to aligning the front end.

My new tank top decal arrived - from Australia !!! Well pleased and only £4 delivered.

I've also located some Edoardo Bianchi rubber block pedals [ early 1900's bicycle ] and although a bit extravagant at £35, will be absolutely ideal for my footpegs.

Slow but sure .....................

Intake manifold completed. Spot on - carb positioned exactly where I want it.

Also completed the pattern for the carb support, my pal is going to make the finished item from Brass with a Copper overlay.

Engine mount patterns also completed and trialed .... ready for laser cutting.

The tank bottom extensions have been made and fitted, just waiting to be filled and surfaced ready for primer.

Knew those BMW Kay bars would come in handy one day ............ just a bit of heat to bend the ends down and back a bit. They will be powder coated anyway.

Fitted the NOS spacer block - everything clears . And another arrival - this time from the manufacturers of Royal Enfield India.

Big shout out for "Farmer" of this parish who took time out of his busy Christmas preparations to machine the wheel / axle spacers needed to progress my Boardtracker.

That means I can now fit the wheels, rear axle plates and forks accurately ready for final alignment - then it's down to finding a tame welder who can tack everything up for me. Then the mick up can be dismantled from the jig and the frame can be fully welded.

I HAVE to get the project finished next year as due to life changing circumstances I have to sell my house in 2024 ............................ I'll need a big tent to build all my projects !!

Since I started this project I always had a mental picture of what I wanted it to look like, including the colourways which were to be Coffee and Cream.

However a biking [ pedal ] pal of mine pointed out the the corporate colours for Edoardo Bianchi are Celeste Blue !!!

I've managed to translate that into a RAL colour - 6027 - which I can get in a satin cellulose finish.

I've also found a cream to go with that [ wheels and accessories ], just tracking down a RAL code for that.

Oh dear, have to change the name now !!!! I'm playing with Phantom and Celest..................... Celestial Phantom ??

Hey Beachy, good to see you're making steady progress on the old velocipede.
Maybe try RAL 9010 for a slightly off white/cream colour. I was mistakenly given this code as the appliance white (RAL9003) that I had my Suzonda wheels coated in.....turned out when the tank/bodywork was painted in 2xpack the white turned out very offwhite...:/

When you are creating a Phantom, it's the details that are important.

No such animal available these days as Footrest pedals ...................... solution, create your own !

Chinabay pedals { £10.00 pr. ]. Dismantle, drill out the centres of the repro Edoardo Bianchi pedal rubbers and reassemble .......................... hey presto, fake authentic era pedals.

Transformation of the Valor Paraffin can into Edoardo Bianchi fuel cell begins !!!!!! While I was throwing out some old belts I came across one that had "Milano" stamped on it ........... must be a sign. That will now be the fake hold down strap for the fuel cell.

BTW, I post these little snippets not to bore the pants off you good folk but to give myself encouragement.

Virago oil filter cover being "de-logo'd"
