CAFE CREME - BOARD.....TRACKER

Been out and braved the frost this morning. Not ideal temp for spraying, but it's only the first coat of primer filler.

This is the medallion I got to go over the Virago logo on the oil filter housing. I thought the legend was appropriate !

Getting a bit closer with the fuel cell. Only the first coat of primer and the plaques are only fitted temporarily.

Nobody makes a long velocity stack for the baby SU - solution, buy a stubby and resin on a Weber velocity stack ! Just needs cleaning up now.

Pattern for the lower shock mount - will be 5mm MS.

Ordered the RAL 6027 Celeste Blue today - matt celly finish.

I priced up left and right hand taps for the 9/16" pedal threads ..................... £15 each.

Hmmmmm. These forged alloy cranks are already 9/16" L and RH thread - £9.-- the lot !

Chop off the arms and drill for mounts - job done.

Normally I'd say buy the tools for future use, in this case the pre-made stuff was the better choice.

MT, if they had been metric I would have gone down that route ................. can't remember the last time I worked with Imperial threads !!

Using the cranks also gives me scope to place the pedals where I need them.

Yep. makes sense. I figured you'd never re-use the taps LOL

Just got this from Ebay. It was in the wrong category with a £4.00 start ......... I was the only bidder !!

I'm going to hook it up on the side of the "tank" as a breather.

Now you see it - now you don't. First stage in converting the BMX crank set into mountings for the Phantom Edoardo Bianchi pedals.

In the end quite straightforward to remove the chainwheel set from the crank as it was just staked on. Ten minutes with the grinder and all done.

I had the weld bungs [ Rose joints ] turned down today to fit inside the rear frame tubes for the POC mock up.

Chain line is clear and everything lines up as I'd hoped. The top frame tube position isn't fixed yet, I had planned originally to place the top mountings at the rear of the top tube. I'll get the bottom rails finalised and then decide about the top.

Zip ties and masking tape ..... who needs a welder !!!!!

Found these little gems on Ebay - £15.00.

OEM tank badge and seat [ back ? ] emblem.

Not sure where the tank badge is going at the moment [ the seller only had one ], but the seat emblem will go on the back of my saddle. I was going to use the Lycett badges I have, but can't pass this up !!

The single tank badge [ originally side ] doesn't look right on top so i'll hold fire on that and see if I can get a second or even a pair to go on the tank sides.

Think I'm getting more obsessed with this "Phantom" idea ......... just found these on Italian Ebay for 25 euros.

Found this image on the Internet yesterday. I've resized it to fit a UK tax disc holder and I'm now playing with adding the Edoardo Bianchi text. Now I've found this one I'm looking for a 1920's or earlier version.

Bianci seat badge has found a home ! I'll cut the original excess material off where it was simply cut out from a damaged seat.

He looks like a great helper.
Hopefully he gets as comfy as my shop cat and doesn't flinch when you are working.
