Finally found some 7/8" brass saddle clamps for my vintage brass oil syringe / pump. Given them all a quick polish for pix, but I'll polish them properly then maybe [ ?? ] clear coat.

They'll be used as breathers with vintage cotton covered hose connecting them to give the mpression that they are functional oil pumps.

I also found that the rear brake lever from my Honda XLR250 rear wheel [ spare ] is the same spline as the 21" wheel I'm using.

Can't make up my mind if I should bright zinc passivate the levers, spacers etc, or paint. Maybe paint more period ??

The SU hs now bwwn stripped down and in the cleaning process prior to taking a guesstimate as to needle, jets, etc.

Fortunately the SU Continuation company manufactures virtually every part needed.

I vote for paint or nickel. Zinc plating was common in the 1800s but bright zinc wasn't around until the 1930s. You can plate small parts with nickel pretty easily. YouTube is full of DIY information.

There were several parts I planned to get nickel plated ..... until I got the price !!!

I was quoted £65 [ 70 something US dollars ? ] for just the hand change quadrant and lever.

And you are right about the bright zinc - too modern, my option was paint.

Thanx for your feedback - you've made up my mind for me !!!

Thanx Rider 52, it's great to have feedback from you guys - Celeste Blue it is then!!

Flat off next with 1000 wet and dry and a few coats of clear should do it.

I'll do all the incidental spacers etc. Black. Again - my usual go to satin black will be too modern [?] so I'll have to order up a gloss black rattle can.

Don't know about you guys, but I've found that U Pol rattle cans are the most reliable and consistent.

Spome jobs it's just not worth firing up the compressor, etc.,etc.

That color is going to pop against the creme white!

Thanx for your feedback. My original colourways were going to be Coffee and Cream [ hence " Cafe Creme ], but then I spotted several other Boardtrackers in that colour combo .............. still looked great, but hey ho - I need to march to my own drum.

I was looking at various shades of blue [ still wanted cream / ivory as my conrast ] when I came across a Bianchi racing bicycle and fell in love with the Celeste Blue colour that had been their corporate colours for decades.

It was a short hop then to create a "phantom" Edoardo Bianchi Boardtracker !!!

I tracked down the blue - Celeste Blue, and went for Light Ivory as the contrast colour.

My favourite powder coaters came good with the excact RAL code for both colours, but eventually I decided to spray the blue and just get the wheels and bars powder coated in light ivory. The rest is all paint.

Pity about the cost of the nickel plating, but just a minor compromise.

Hand gearchange finalised and all working smoothly. The stainless [ temp ] fixing will be replaced with a domed brass nut on the outside - just for looks.

My pal is going to turn up a knob from wood .......... can I say that in this PC mad world ????

Change of plan - I found these on Ebay while looking for something totally unrelated.

Two of these - one each side of the lever at the top - to form ye olde Tee shifter !! Solid brass

It will all look good fitted with the brass fittings

Yes I think brass highlights against the Celeste Blue and Ivory will work as period correct. I have several antique brass items that I can integrate into the finished bike.

Those brass domed nuts are outrageous price !!!

Wondering if you are 2K clear coating the painted controls.
All the painted surfaces are getting a satin clear coat to match the finish on the powder coating.

Wasn't planned that way, but when I got the MATT powder coating back it had a slight sheen !! So Idecided to satin clear all the painted surfaces- Celeste Blue and Light Ivory.

MT, thanx for the continued support.
