"Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

Has Craigslist officially fallen to Facebook Marketplace?

CL used to be a daily staple for me, and now is a once-a-month "check it out to be disappointed by the results" destination.

These are the only adds I see on there anymore as a result of my usual searches of "Cafe Racer", "Vintage Motorcycle", "CB Honda" etc... Just wanted adds with all the normal keywords tagged.

I know it must be regional as @canyoncarver says CL still has some good adds in his area.

How is it around you?

I've been using Search Tempest w/ Craigslist to look for HD Cart stuff and that ad has been coming up everywhere. Craigslist didn't use to allow the same ad to be posted in neighboring regions but last time I posted sales it didn't seem to matter. Those guys have plastered that ad all over!

Pretty much the same thing around here and southern MS as well; HD, HD, HD, HD, Hondal Rebel, Honda Shadow, HD, HD, HD, HD, HD, Gold Wing, HD, HD.

the same is happening here with Kijiji. it was our CL and they started charging for adds and everyone just moved to FB marketplace. I re-joined FB because I couldn't find firewood on Kijiji all the sellers went to FB LOL now I barely check Kijiji because the adds there IF there are also on marketplace.

Earlier on when people were still posting on BOTH platforms, I'd often see differing prices on FB vs. CL. Kinda funny but also curious as to why that was.

Ha I see that too, a lot to do with the FB ones getting edited more often to keep them at the top vs CL entered once and never touched agian

FB kinda pisses me off. They'll tell you to the hour something you posted 5 years ago, but in marketplace it stops telling you how old it is at a week. And you can set the search for distances, but it'll show me crap in texas and missouri, before it'll show me anything in oklahoma and it'll give that stupid "this is a long ways from you" banner. Just show me in order stuff new to old in the designated search range.

Oh, I never said I liked FB, it sucks balls but it is where I needed to go to find this years firewood and I did find a great seller I will just use next year. But it sucked balls LOL.

Yeah, I've found a few things on it. But I've also messaged about items and either get nothing back or "that sold 9 months ago, why did you message?".

^^^ I hate this. I tried to sell one thing once and I did, deleted the add 24 hrs after and for 3 months I got messages asking if it was still available because it lingered in Marketplace in some form or another. At least on Kijiji if you deleted the add it was gone for good.

Yeah, I don't get how they can't have a more accurate time listed, or location search. They'll tell you it's a long ways away, but can't just leave it off the search result. I like Craigslist because the ad went away on it's own after a set time unless you renewed it. Neither marketplace or offerup do that. Offerup the location is decently accurate. And marketplace won't let you display ads in order from new to old.

I think it bothers me simply because they could fix it, they could easily have ads delete automatically after 30 days, they could easily just show date listed rather than "over a week", and they could be more accurate on location simply by leaving results out rather than giving a notice at the top.

Seems as the market has shifted a bit from the 70's "streetable size" bikes being the big thing to the little bikes being the hot item. Not sure that st90's have been throw away cheap in my lifetime, but the ask on them (or similar such as sl70's, ct's etc) is just getting silly to IMHO.
Yeah, that kind of $$ for one of those is just obscene.

For how clean it is that is a reasonable price compared to a rusted locked up ct70 with no title for $1500. I'd buy a grom before that though.

it is amazing how much they are asking for rotted out junk examples. I happened into a nice solid condition SL70 a while back for very little scratch. I ended up swapping in a Lifan 125 and me and my 2 year old son ride the wheels off of that thing, and I dare say it may be my favorite bike (if only because of how often my son and I ride it together)

Even at that, I couldn't bring myself to pay market value for another one...

Small bikes are a blast, which is why I have an XL75, 140cc pitbike and the cr80 with a 120cc xr100 motor. But they aren't worth thousands to me.
