Car jump starter as battery

Stumbled across these car jump starters using lipo cells that pack a punch- 300A+. Most I have seen are obviously quite generic Chinese things and often packaged up with a load of crap (flashlights etc) but overall dont seem half bad for the price. Only thing is looks like their charging circuit is designed for usb charging which is not going to work. Major plus is they are really cheap, may buy one and tinker with it... 8)

Works fine for me?

Try this

would need a charging circuit for it. Looks like it charges off a generic USB charger... so you could use an LM7805... if your bike is 12 volts. (LM7805 needs 7 volts input min to regulate 5 volts out)

Yeah I know mate, problem is I am wondering if 20mins of usb charging (my average commute time) is enough to replace juice used starting a 500cc V twin plus running lights.

Don't do it!!! These small LiPo jump starters work amazingly well to jump start cars(seem to defy physics to me) but they do not like having voltage "pushed" back into them or being used to power anything for any length of time. We bought a few for the shop and they all all overheated(bulged/broken cases) in a short amount of time. When trying to figure out why we discovered that while they can be used to jump start they need to immediately removed after the car starts. Even the amount of time it takes to drive a car into the shop from the parking lot is too long and overheats them.
