so i ran my cb360 straight piped for about two days or so. when i went out to start it the next morning every time i kicked it it would start and idol for a second then back fire and then die. I went out today to start it and it took a few kicks but I finally started back fired a few times then I reved it and when I held it over 4000rpm it would backfire but the second It dropped up it would backfire and die. O ya by the way it’s only doing it outta the left head.

Sounds to me like its runnin too rich! Im not an expert but thats a problem I had w/ a Suzuki and it was because my idle screw was messed w/...... still don't know who did it. lol Good luck!

when i pulled the plugs out you could tell that it was running ritch. but it its running ritch outta both carbs wouldnt it be back firing on both heads and not just the left?

It's probably a fuel related issue. Did you rejet the carbs? Do you have stock intake? These bikes don't like to run on straight pipes.

Yea I would rejet for sure! I didn't rejet on my suzuki and I ran into a grip of problems! Or put a small baffle in at least. Maybe? I dunno Im no expert.

Hi, I'm really new to this forum, and in general pretty new to 4 stroke motors- but I've been working for years on 2 strokes. One thing I could say is it's possibly your condenser crapping out on you. I know that on points ignition bikes when the condenser begins to fizzle out the bike will start up but as soon as it begins to heat up the bike loses all spark and dies. Also your points could be off and that can cause misfire or worse.

However if it's local to one cylinder I'd say it's probably too rich, or has some issue like that. Maybe check to see how dirty the air filter on that side of the bike is. For sure pull the plug to check.

It could be both too...

Maybe running straight pipes fouled the plugs and killed one while the other is in bad shape. Test the spark on them and make sure they are hot.

tested the spark both the plugs are fine. pulled the pluggs out and there a little ritch but nothing major.

I would put money on an exhaust leak for the backfiring issue. When you changed your pipes, did you replace the copper "crush" gaskets?
