cb100

That looks like its in pretty good shape. New fuel line is a cheap and easy fix. It will only cost you a few bucks. Just figure out roughly how much you'll need then get a piece and then cut it down into the pieces you need.

the tank has a dent in the top. i mentioned bondoing and repainting the tank and said "well yeah but how are you gonna get that stripe decal back?"

i held off letting him know i was gonna paint it flat black and hacksaw the back of the frame off haha.

see i dont know though. the 125 doesnt have a spot of rust on it. and no dings or dents. its mint. the only problems like i said are the gastank and petcock needing cleaned and possibly any gas that got in the carb.

the 175s pipes are rusted and rotted out with holes on the end. the tirewalls are real rotted, and that big dent in the tank.

another thing is, the gas tank doesnt go to the frame when you remove the seat. it sits up like 3 or 4 inches. wouldnt that look terribly awful if i got a solo seat? i could get a sportster tank but thats $$ in most cases

what im looking for is to not spend TOO much money on this fun little side project.

or should i just hold off and see what else comes my way in the months to come and just finish my gs550 cafe?

see what i mean about the tank not meeting the frame. would that look odd or no?

I think the 125 and the 175 share the same frame. You could always find a cl125 tank and put it on the 175?
Lets face it you are going to have to spend money on any bike you choose so just go with your gut feeling and start creating.

right, my gut feeling told me the cl125 was the one. true the gas tank has gunk but theres no rust on the bike at all, as the 175 has much more rust and dings.

either way the bike is gonna have to be brought down to nothing to do it correctly......to paint the frame and such. its your choice but i feel the 175 is your best one at this point and time

ah i wondered what that was. i wouldnt wanna rip troy off though! unless it was cool with him
Hey bud, if I didn't want anyone to use my ideas I would have never posted my bike on the web. Go at it man I'd be honored ;D If you need help just let me know.
With that said the back end of the tanks are pretty different. Mine ends early and the mount slopes behind it to the frame. One the one you posted the tank overhangs the mount a good bit. It would have to be addressed otherwise it would look silly, IMO. You could weld a plate over the back. I did that on a cb 200 tank and it turned out real nice. Another couple of options would be a sportster tank like was mentioned or a brand new custom tank. I've seen brand new custom tanks sell for about $120-$130.
Also, what are you thinking for the seat rails? The seat rails on those are stamped steel aren't they? Would be easy to make custom seat rails (kong them) and turn it into a brat. Just a thought.

Maybe something like this: (Sportster tank and kong the seat rails)
