CB200 tires and questions.

hey guys I need to buy some new tires for my cb200. Stock sizes are 2.75-18 front and 3.0-18 rear. I thought about doing larger sizes but its to my understanding that a bigger tire will actually reduce the amount of rubber actually in contact with the road (depending on how much bigger). That being said I want to stay stock sizes or at least very close, and I am looking for vintage style tires. The only ones I can seem to find are Heidenau k39 and k33 tires. These are pretty affordable for me and would be ok but I thought I would check if you guys knew some that were better.
Thanks!

The metric equivalents are approx 90/90 -18 and 100/90- 18. That might yield you a broader search result...

haha yeah i've searched with that as well, still had trouble finding much of anything.

It looks like denniskirk.com has both a 90/90 and 100/90 in the Avon RoadRiders. Great tires.

never go oversized tires, makes the bike handle poorly

I ran Michelin M62s on a 175.
If not check out duro

Not smaller that stock in the real world they are the correct sizes for stock rims and stick really well.

I just got Michelin Pilot Activ's, 100/90-18 & 90/90-18, from MSS. I can't speak for the tires themselves but you can find some tires in those sizes.

I never cheap out on tires or brakes. The tires are the only thing between you and the road, i like knowing that i have a quality tire underneath me.

M62 come in 2.75 front and 3.00 rear and are P rated so they are OK to 94MPH.

Dunlop do a version of the TT100 in GP (soft) compound in 90/90 front and 100/90 rear. Bob raker used to import them - don't know if he still does. I found a pair http://www.motozone.co.nz/products/tyres/road-tyres/dunlop-2/dunlop-tt100-classic.aspx in NZ at rather more than the M62 price.....

There's this AVON http://www.ebay.com/itm/Avon-Universal-Vintage-Race-Front-Motorcycle-Tire-Size-80-90H18-/260985398915?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cc3f12683&vxp=mtr

for $174 each....

Continental offer a 90/90 front but no matching skinny rear. their narrowest is 110/90 which is way too wide for that skinny rim.

What are the CB200 guys using?

Duro makes some tires are are reps of the dunlops, or at least they look like that.
I ran them on a CB350 and they were nice. Soft and grippy, also like $100ish for a set.
On a Cb175 I had M62s, they are harder and last literally for ever. Im also plaining on running the M62s ob my CL125. Since the 125 and the 175 would never do 100 I figured it was a nice way to put the correct size tires on the bike. The higher speed ratings of some of the avons and dunlops is nice, but kinda over kill on an 80mph bike.

I have never run the Heidenau tires, but hear great things about them
