Re: CB250RS OH Yeah!!!

Evening all.. so I've had quite a bit of motivation over the past couple of weeks and have really got stuck into the build. Yesterday i picked up my wheels from being rerubbered and a heap of other new parts (i had a big list of wants,,LOL)
1: LH+RH switches
2: front brake master and caliper
3: Speedo, Tacho, Throttle cables
4: 2x exhausts
5: alloy foot pegs
6: Mini speedo and tacho instruments
7: hand grips and bar ends
8: front and rear wheel sealed bearing kits
some list eh?, and I'm still waiting for some bits to come from the factory. Just leaves the head and tail lights, indicators, Battery, and carb rebuild with pod filter...........

any way I've rebuilt the wheels, painted the engine and polished the side covers. rebuilt the wiring loom and fitted all that gear to the little gem, now shes starting to get some meat on her bones!!!LOL... The tanks off getting some nasty bits fixed and once that's done that and the fenders are ready for some paint too.. we decided on a metallic mid red which should make this whole deal POP.... so here is a couple of pics of where were at as of now......

Re: CB250RS OH Yeah!!!

looking good brother, I'm not sold on that stock rear fender though, looks like a plastic off an XT! Yeah Yeah I know 'Shut up and play your guitar'

Re: CB250RS OH Yeah!!!

Man you are soooo lucky not having to do an engine rebuild, makes building a scoot a lot quicker ;D ;D keep up the great work and don't let that VIC weather get you down, at this rate you'll be finished for spring

LOL, with the tank on it balances out that rear guard though, and with a little color I'm sure you'll like it......
PS have you heard about the cafe builder / shop over in Richmond? Sam Speer. www.speermotorcycles.blogspot.com

Re: CB250RS OH Yeah!!!

SOoo anyway i had a few suppliers call me today and my bits from Nippon have arrived!!! New swing arm bushes, case gaskets, side & center stand springs and a couple of other assorted goodies (yay!) i received word that my tank will be ready Mon/Tues and my machinist will have the new front calliper mount done then too, so all going well i should have the tank and fenders out to paint next week and back on the little gem the following week, so in the mean time i have a few things to button up and keep my mind off the tins Tehehe :D

I have already mount the new alloy pegs and will start sorting out how to mount up the new twin exhaust system over the weekend, im going to hold off on new pics till i get the Tins back from the painter, i hope you all can wait (I CANT!!) LOL LOL HA HA... ;D

Re: CB250RS OH Yeah!!!

OK i picked up my gear from Nippon today and was stoked to find that the kick and center stand springs i ordered and was told would just be in a nickel finish, were actually CHROME!!! sweet.. i also couldn't help myself and i pick up a headlight, A 7" full metal CHROMED round beauty!!! (yum yum) as-well as a nice case breather filter like a pod for your carb.. I'd seen a couple of bikes here with them and loved the idea. I did a little bit of work on the little gem mainly hooking up the rear brake links, but i also fitted the new swing arm bushes (another lose end tightened up LOL) so tomorrow i think I'm going to pick up a new flasher can so that i can finish some more of the wiring stuff, and since I've got the new case gaskets I'm might be able to fit them up too (ill see how i go) Anyway good progress made, very happy and cant wait to get the tank back to check the lines on her........ I think I've figured out how i want to fit up the new silencers... man i have to calm down... but i so close LOL :) :D ;D

Re: CB250RS OH Yeah!!!

Ps Mr 88 thats one sweet pic you finaly got up bro LOL :D

Re: CB250RS OH Yeah!!!

one question for you bud... did they unlace the wheels prior to powder... if not man i really hope you trued them in perfect before getting them coated... if you have any kind of a shim or a whoble over 20mph you are going to have to cut the spokes out, strip all the powder, relace and THEN you can true them.... if they are powdered as a whole you can never true the wheel again. just a heads up on that... bike is looking nails man! nice work

Re: CB250RS OH Yeah!!!

Hey Joe, yeah the wheels are straight as a die :) they did have to put 1 balancer weight on the front after they fitted the rubber to them, but that's to be expected :D so I'm sure were going to be OK, cheers for the info, you have such a wealth of knowledge that i always appreciate ;D

Re: CB250RS OH Yeah!!!

Ok an update, Well we have made a lot of progress on the gem, i have mounted the new 7" headlight and both of the new mini instruments, plus the ignition switch and buttoned up all the wiring inside the headlight shell, the new hand controls are on with new grips and bar ends, the front indicators are on and looking sweet ( the rears have to wait for the rear guard to return ) i got some new stainless Allen bolts and mounted up the left case cover ( still waiting for the right to return ) mounted up the front brake caliper after some moding and set up the rear brake, so now I'm waiting for those other bits to come back, we finally picked the color for the tins which is a mid metallic red call Koral Candy its sooo good with a unbelievable depth!! anyway they should be back in 7 days so ill post up some pic's then...

Question: i have noticed that front wheel is not line up with the handlebars when they are straight, i know that losening off the head clamps a twisting should fix the problem but is they a right way to do this ? ie: just the bottom clamps, just one side of both top and bottom clamps ? HELP Cheers andycafe

Re: CB250RS Update and question?

Are you sure your fork are straight (IE- not bent) ? An easy way to do this (if they're still in the clamps) is to loosen the triple bolts and twist the forks around in the trees whilst holding the lowers still. I they are bent you will see the lowers move forward and back.

And did the front guard have a brace in it? This will help line up the forks too.

Other than that, line them up the best you can and tighten away...
