CB350 Steampunk Frankenstein Cafe thing called Isabel

Really great work Noddy! I have to echo others in saying most steampunk stuff is over the top, but you have done an excellent job keeping it realistic with the perfect touch of steampunk aesthetic. Well done, sir!

I love it! Copper is one of my favorite looking metals, so the copper plated frame is absolutely awesome!

I'm thinking about including some small copper/brass accents on my bike just for contrast. Nothing anywhere near the level you have, just little things here and there like the fuel lines and brass adjusters, so I might have to borrow your idea for using copper fuel lines

So apparently this is how one makes a chesterfield style seat... it only takes about a week... and I can't feel my hands anymore... and I think I aspirated more leather than is actually on the seat (don't get leather that's entirely too thick to upholster with or you'll have to spend a day belt-sanding it thin... or buy different leather... but I LIKED the leather goddammit!).

Kicked her over for the very first time this morning too... 4th kick, she fired! Starts every time first kick now... sounds a bit rattly though, so I might need to adjust the cam tensioner I think. I have a dodgy little vid of that I'll upload later.

Iron & Air posted an unfinished pic a few days ago on their facebook page too... very mixed respsonses!

Aaaanyway.. the seat is now on the bike, and I'm just about to head off for the first ride! I'll let you know how it goes...

Hahaha! You'll have to wait for that. I've got to find somewhere nice to take her and get some proper pics now!

I gotta tell you, I am really loving this build. That seat looks awesome and really fits the bikes overall style. I saw the Iron & Air facebook picture, kudos.

Very awesome. Perfect balance of the steampunk aesthetic and functionality, and best of all you didn't glue on any damn non-functional gears!

Quick idea for your spark plug caps:

That website also carries a variety of cloth-wrapped HT leads as well.

Sonrier, that is brilliant! Perfect! I've shot them off an email see if they'll suit the cb350s plugs and whether they ship to Tassie.

Funny on that eBay listing... I sure as hell didn't pay that much for my lamp.. and it was in heaps better condition...

Yeah, it seemed rather exorbitant. I'm pretty sure we have piles of similar lamps back at the old museum I worked at. Nothing about a cracked lens, dented, broken mount, tarnished lamp screams "worth $300+!" to me.

There is someone that has gotta have it or the rich kid that has too much money. You would be surprised how many kids will spend 15 to 20 thousand dollars on a statistical type game for their phone (no action, just numbers and pictures) that they downloaded for free to begin with. Some of those little images can cost $200.

If they won't, I'll be happy to help.

That would be awesome, thanks Sonrier. I haven't heard back from them as yet... anyone have any idea if the little tit on top of the NGK BL-6 and B4-L is anything like the one on NGK B8ES on my bike? Or where the hell I would find that info out?

In other news: She's up and about properly now! Spent the last few days tuning her up properly and ironing out a few kinks (with much fanging up and down my street to annoy the neighbours). Went to get her road-worthied this morning so I can get her registered... no number plate light... D'oh! Rego Fail. Otherwise they were happy with it, and I can even get Special Interest plates (half price rego!) So now I've got to figure out a nice number plate bracket and light solution...

But at least I got to ride her into town and back, and she purred like a steam-powered kitten... a bit clackety, and the speedo stopped working, and a screw fell out of the tacho... and there's a funny rattle somewhere that I can't identify... but apart from that, totally flawless. ;)
