Cb360 oil change

I'm wanting to change the oil on my 75 cb360t. I am wondering if there is an oil filter. If there is where is it and how do I change it?

yes, there is a filter.

You have to remove the clutch case/cover
and unless you make yourself an adapter, you will need the special oil filter wrench...

In my experience, you will also need a new clutch cover/case gasket.

+1 to what vtwin said.

If/when you get the oil filter off, it's pretty gunky in there. Be prepared to invest in some good degreaser. I actually like to use the spray-on aircraft stripper. It works wonders on built-up grease. Obviously, don't use it near any painted surfaces of which you are fond.

I am really, 100%, wholehartedly not being a dick but you need a repair manual for your bike. Best $30 you'll spend. It will save you tons of time, and possibly money. It should be the absolute first purchase when you aquire a new motorcycle.

+1 to that! It is always my first purchase - I usually find mine online and printed it out for "free"

Don't worry about filter, I doubt it's possible to block one, the engine will blow before filter is a problem (filter is literally just a spinning cup that centrifuges out anything 'heavy'
The harder you rev it, the better the filter works
just put some decent motorcycle specific oil in it.
DO NOT USE 20w/50, it's too thick and cam fails even quicker.
5w/40 full synthetic seems to work real well

There's actually two filters. One is a screen which can be removed rather easy and does need to be cleaned, and the other is a centrifuge, which is a pain in the ass to clean.

Here is a link to a guide on how to change your oil. The guide is for a CL, but the engines are the same, so steps are the same.

If you do plan to do any work on your bike, a service manual is HIGHLY recommended. Some stuff you can find on the internet, but it's better to have a tried and true guide to reference/cross check.

Oh, and +1 on needing a new gasket.

Strainer is before the pump and will be worth checking, particularly if there is any evidence of silicon sealer EVER being used.
The centrifugal filter takes years to get any meaningful amount of crud in it.
Usually looks like a cardboard liner, you can cut it out ;D

LOL, ;D
Someone had used silicon on cover gasket at some time and maybe cam chain 'bits' after re-call?

The clutch cover on the 360 needs to be removed to access the oil filter? Another reason the 350 is better.

10cc smaller engine. Another reason the 350 is worse.

Let's not get bogged down in the details, I'm talking big picture here. Kidding. Good point. Although I will say mine is a 356. It's a CL though. Did CBs come in 354?
