CB360T resto-rection

Picked up a 76 CB360T thought it could be a fun winter project. I don’t have any intentions of scouring the earth for year correct NOS parts. I do like the classic styling though so I am planning to keep it at least mostly together. My initial plan is to take care of the big stuff: WIRING, fork seals, brakes, tires, fork bushings, seat parts, etc. I’d also like to find a decent front fender for it. The side cover badges are for a regular 360, but for now they will work I may even try to paint them to match, the problem is I kind of like the weathered look of the tank. My immediate focus is wiring, at some point someone removed the factory harness and cut some of the connectors off, so I figure I. An upgrade the rectifier, a modern fuse block, and I need an ignition switch (no key) which should show up this week. I’d love to hear this thing run. Anyway here are a couple of pictures. Any advice, help, or opinions are welcome.

That looks like a very nice beginning. Look up crazypj on here and go through his posts about the CB/CL/CJ360, they are FULL of great information; he's very much "Mr. 360." You'll want to consider his carb rebuild.

Also can anyone tell me how much room I have under my seat? I have the factory seat but the hinge pin, rubber bumpers, and latch are gone. I’d like to know if I can mount a fuse panel and or the regulator under the pan, TIA.

sent him a message thanks! I am assuming I will go with pods as it seems like the easiest option. As long as I can get them to clear my battery box.

The tank looks great from here.
it has a small dent on the right top down by the seat that I am hoping pulls
Out, other than that it is just sun faded on the top.

I’m in. If you’re rewiring, you cant beat the MotoGadget controller for simplifying everything into just handlebar switches and a black box. Highly recommended

As far as wiring goes: http://www.sparckmoto.com/Products/Detail/107 ;D
Thanks! I did just order a net regulator/rectifier from you. In an ideal world I would get that kit, or even an M-Unit, but I am balling on a budget. I may live to regret it but I am going to try and run a backbone power wire and make my own harness. Being cheap isn’t always ideal lol, but sometimes necessary.

I can get you a stock fender and brackets, seat bumpers and hinge and anything else that is on my parts bike. Let me know what you need.

I managed to break my starter switch while installing new throttle cables. I found another thread on here that mentioned a SPDT momentary switch from radio shack that fits in the housing so I have one on order. I didn’t notice the factory switch it being DT but from what I understand it’s so you can wire the headlight to cut out when the starter is engaged to reduce battery load? Hopefully I will tackle some of the wiring tonight.

Yes, also the 360 was factory wired to kill the headlight on start up. So all the wires should already be there.

IIRC the black and Black/red should open when you press the starter button. (Killing the headlight). otherwise powering the light when not pushing the button.

Had a little help putting the new regulator on tonight from Sparck Moto. I’m assuming it will clear the seat if I mount it on the crossmember behind the battery box?
