CB360T resto-rection

Could be a tight spot, the seat has rubber bumpers on it.

Both my wife and daughter have helped me w wiring quite a lot over the years. As Im color blind.

The Sparckmoto R/R is the biggest improvement you can make to that bike.

Matt also sells a high output stator built for 360. Ive got one sitting here but haven't taken the time to install it. ::)

Oh man! I got sucked in to a black hole of home projects and I am just now getting back to the bike. Here’s an update.

First of all, a huge shoutout to Turnturtle for a variety of parts I needed Andy just being a generous and stand up guy.

I got my new regulator mounted and it clears under my seat pan. New throttle and return cables. I also had to repair the starter button that I broke during the cable install. New starter solenoid. I started building a wiring harness and managed to get enough sorted out that I got the bike to run today! To me this is huge because I had no idea of its condition when I got it. It runs and revs but won’t idle. I am not super worries as I don’t have any filters on it yet anyway. I did find however that the left case cover is leaking oil out of the top. So I am hoping it is just an old gasket? Also I am missing the tension wheel for the clutch cable at the controls. But I am pleased with the progress, and thanks for all the help guys!

Great to hear you are back at it and have it running. I can't help with the clutch adjuster but let me know if you need anything else.

Hey man thanks, my local Honda shop has one actually! Of course I am guessing they are pretty much the same no matter what the bike? I may try and rob one off of something else.

Update: I got the rear of the bike wired up, tail lights, brake lights, starter, headlight. Waiting on a new flasher relay but hopefully I can get all of my wiring ran prior to it showing up. I have been struggling with the wiring but things are finally looking up.

So my front turns have power. My hi beam indicator works, and my Neutral light works. The problem is the headlight turns off when I pull in the clutch lever, and the high beam light comes on. And when I switch to hi beam, my signals turn off, and also without a flasher I don’t even think the signals are supposed to have power. But the neutral light works, I didn’t pop a fuse, and those gauge lights are brighter than I thought.

I think you probably have earthing issues, can’t see how else the clutch lever can dip the headlight !

when i fitted alloy Renthal bars to my 360/390 project i caused all sorts of issues related to earthing the switches, as the alloy bars didn‘t provide an earth path.

also, the 360 has a ‘feature’ whereby the light switch also ‘controls’ the alternator output, switching to full power when the lights are on.

this is best bypassed In the loom.

good luck getting through these issues !

One more thing

my 360 was someone else’s unfinished project ....

they had swapped the two four pin loom connections, this gave a lot of weird symptoms including a very bright neutral light....

so maybe check the wire colour coding is consistent on each side of the plug/socket connectors near the battery !

Thanks! None of the factory connectors were on the bike when I got it. The wiring harness had been pulled off and hacked up. So I am trying to just functionally wire it to work. I am also trying to get the signals wired as much as I can while waiting on my fisher relay to get here. As it sits now, the fronts are on the rears are off. Until I go to hi beam then the fronts drop out. When I select left turn, the left drops out and same for the right. My turn indicator light and my rear signal lights never come on.

I swapped some grounding this morning and the headlight no longer cuts it with the clutch lever.

I should be thankful that I may be only getting down to signal issues from where I started with this lol. Thanks for all the help!

I have been thinking about it and if my signals get power through the flasher then my current state makes sense. The fronts will be on as position markers. The signals should drop out when selected and then get power through the flasher relay, which would explain why I am not getting any bulbs coming on without the flasher being wired.

The only thing that doesn’t explain is why the position markers drop out when I select hi beam.

The front marker lights get their power from the low beam wire. My guess is Honda cut the markers off on high beam to reduce the electrical load.

Thanks! Yeah so I don’t want to be overly optimistic, but once my box of goodies shows up with my flasher in it, my wiring days could be coming to an end!

I started putting some things together and noticed my clutch wasn’t working. I pulled the adjuster/lever apart and checked for the bearing and it isn’t in there, but when running the clutch lever I noticed the adjuster wasn’t moving towards what would be the right side of the bike. I pulled it apart and it looks like there should be three bearings that allow it to cam? Does anybody know what size they are?

Common Motor has a video and he mentions being able to use loose ball bearings if the plate is missing, has anyone had any luck with that?

Try it and see. I suspect that the reason they came in a plate was for ease of assembly. Use some thick grease to hold the individual balls in place and see how it works.
