Yes, you are correct it’s a 1974 TR6
Being a UK car it has Lucas mechanical fuel injection, the US got a depowered car with twin SU carbs.
Car looks standard and is in nice condition, lots of rebuilding of bodywork, mechanicals and interior, and better braking to go with the 2.7ltr 175bhp engine.

I’ve decided to call and end to Project 550 - The Scruffy Racer.
not happy with the tank, i’m worried there’s more rust hidden beneath the old filler and the whole lot needs to go back to metal and be redone.
so i’m going to ride Scruffy about for a bit then plan Phase 2

Small update !
i was right to be worried anout the old filler, turns out to be hiding a couple of small holes!
the ethanol laden fuel caused the paint to bubble around the offending area, so i ground it back to bare metal and repaired with QuickSteel, refilled and repainted.
repair seems to be fuel tight after some testing so today am gojng to clearcoat as its a nice dry day.

Yes M butnless than ideal!
clearcoated today which seemed to attract every flying thing for miles.....
tomorrow will sand and polish the clearcoat and see how it looks.
it’s been an interesting journey, the ‘no dents no filler’ tank wasn’t exactly honest!

Looks like someone took a zip cut to the tank for some reason as well? Wonder what they were doing with a grinder on the tank. *shrug*

I’m back from a 6 week break and Scruffy fired right up.
tank looks the same as when i left it, no bubbling of the paint so the quiksteel seems to have worked
initial fuel leak cured itself after a ride, stuck float i’m guessing
so..... must be time to tear the motor down and fit 600cc pistons !
shall also repaint the engine, forks etc , fit better shocks and maybe cartridge emulators
look out for updates !

Ordered the Cartridge Emulators today hoping they’ll take the harshness out of the ride, otherwise Scruffy is running great
