Cb750 what to do project...

Interesting day today.....started poking around a bit and exposed a covered rust spot....long story short...

Pressure wash tomorrow, try to find the little tent so I can sandblast in it....
That frame damage is pretty common. Water collects in the lower frame tubes and if the bike is left on the side stand it slowly rots the frame. When you get it fixed drill a small
drain hole in each of the lower frame tubes. Just a note, according to Honda service bulletins, most of the water/frame rot problems were caused when people started washing bikes at commercial car washes. Same with pressure washing. I just pressure washed an old frame and water ran out of it for 5 minutes after I finished.

Yes a tent for hopefully keeping blast media somewhat at contained, might just hang plastic in my dog kennel fence...not sure yet....got sidetracked with work at work at and home.

I hate pressure washing, forced water into areas it shouldn't go....

I do outside blasting. I bought one of the 36" x 24" poly rectangular tubs meant to mix cement in. I put the frame in and have to turn it occasionally to get all the frame area. The tub contains about 90 percent of the blasting media. Anything that pops out goes into the ground which is pure Georgia red clay. I used a medium grit sand for several years but changed over to coal slag last year. The slag does a better job on frames and is not affected by humidity. The stuff that goes into the clay has improved it greatly and I now have a good stand of grass where it was nothing. I live on a one acre wooded lot and surrounded by gear heads so nobody is offended by the compressor or blasting noise.

Nice, I had a plastic bin set up cuz I normally do small stuff, it died finally so I have a harbor freight cabinet on order....hopefully here monday. Dont wanna do the frame but I wanna make sure its good!

Finally getting a little bit done...got a question regarding starter removal. How does one figure out what size capacitor is needed?

I'm not following you. Caps are used to replace the battery on bikes with a permanent magnet alternator. Doesn't a SOHC have an electromagnet system? If so, it's unlikely to start even on the kicker without a battery.

Thanks, That very well could be....I'm learning as I go. I'm reading alot and I may be mixing up sohc and sohc. thought it might be nice to eliminate the battery and starter ...more reading up I guess..

You can run a really tiny battery on a kick only SOHC, but you have to have a battery. I ran a 1.2ah AGM battery on my CB750 chopper. It was about 2"x2"x3" or thereabout.

Onto the next problem.....swing arm bolt is frozen, rusted, something, I beat on it gently while turning it.....nothing...not budging..there is tiny wiggle in it...I've ridden worse lol....anyways, got a good idea on removing it? All else fails I can cut it off....

Progress...kinda...need to get kickstand welded back on, cut the hoop off and fix it...start work on the airbox...then the little bits. The wheels I'm not sure about, pitted chrome..dont really want to tear them down for paint, maybe paint the entire wheel?

Is the proper? Offset spring with big bolt held on by red gasket caulk? And what's this spring screw that goes nowhere and hooks to nothing? Thanks

Interesting place to connect that throttle return spring, never seen that b4.

That may be a none oem solution. Look at a parts fiche and see, Usually honda's have a clock spring style return.

there's a small oblong plate that fits between the 2 inner carbs, that has a hole in it for the spring.

of which, I'm in need of one, with a spring.

I checked BB and they are oem. the screw with the spring and that spring and bolt are on the picture but the listing doesn't have them as they are not available to order. CSML may tell you what they are.
