Chain Oiler From Breather Cover?? Yes/No

Can i route the breather cover hose to fitting that i could mount on the sprocket cover so that it would drip onto the chain, and would this be beneficial?

thinking its a good two for one solution, my friend just did this and im curious as to the effect it would have on the life of the chain

is it too much oil? should i add a shut off / bypass valve?

I would think that the water that comes out of the breather hose would be the real problem.

It takes an awful lot of rust to hurt the sprockets. It's water on the chain that can be a problem. Granted, when it rains your chain is exposed as much as anything else, but the moisture coming from the breather is constant.

if you've got oil coming from your breather, you've got bigger problems than lubricating your chain

in a properly functioning engine, the only thing coming from the breather should be a little tiny bit of combustion gas that gets past the rings, the engine is designed so that oil has a really really hard time getting out the breather port

ok, and after consulting another friend, this just seems like bad idea or a waste of time, nothing good comes out of the thing

case closed.

That's exactly what I was thinking as I read the original question...what oil? I've never had any oil coming out of the breather on any of my bikes. If you do, and enough to oil the chain, you should be investigating that problem and fixing it.
