Choosing Muffler for cb450

Been Around the Block
I am working on my exhaust system of my 73 CB450 right now. I acquired a set of single wall headers from ebay and have modified them from a 2-1 into a 2-2 system. I am thinking of keeping the mufflers underneath the bike.

I have 2 idea's for the muffler:
1. Buy some shorty reverse cones from DCC
2. Buy some used ducati 1098 mufflers and chop them shorter

What are your thoughts? Will the ducati exhaust provide enought back pressure?

Not after you go over a speed bump! :)

How did you bring the pipes together in to a single?

Just occured to me that you didn't. Sorry, apparently I can't read.

Anyhoo, "backpressure" doesn't really come into the design process as what you would need to be concerned with is header length and diameter. If you search the forum there are a couple of really interesting resources for exhaust design.

I suspect that you will never see performance with your setup equal to the stock double-walled pipes - at this point, if you're sticking with what you've built, my suggestion is to put on what you like and then attempt jetting to match.

Well I would like to keep the pipes because they look good but it's never a good day when you decrease performance. I don't know if it makes a difference but I am also putting some mikuni carbs in there.
