Few more of the shift forks. Look like one needs to be replaced.

I thought about an 88cc kit since the cylinder is toast and the end of the muffler is stuck in the head. I wound up buying a used head only to find screwdriver marks where a monkey tried to pry the cam chain cover off. I could probably still use it but I'm leaning towards the CHP 88cc kit with the head, cylinder and carb. I was trying to keep it all original Honda but that may not be possible while still doing this for a reasonable price.
The CT's are rad for sure and it seems like they are hard to come by down here. I would like to find another one to do a custom build with a big Chinese motor in it that I won't mind thrashing on some trails. That's kind of the thought I had for a mini trial challenge. Find a cheap bike, get it running and reliable, take it on a long two or three day trail ride while doing some camping. I figured you could earn points for every dollar your bike costs below a set amount then get points for reusing crusty parts, swapping or donating parts to competitors and maybe points for every mile you do on the trail ride before a mechanical failure. The guy with the most points at the end of the ride is crowned Mini Trail Champion.

That would be awesome. And I agree about using Honda parts, I always try to but the aftermarket piston/cylinder kits are so cheap it almost doesn't make sense to use OEM honda and get the cylinder bored, etc. Beatrice Cycles has the CT70 88cc kit on sale for $100 right now. http://dratv.com/88ctalalc7.html

I've been debating whether or not to go with the 88cc on my z50, but since I've never ridden one I'll probably do a hone and rings and save the upgrade for later.

Sucks about the second head, a good welder or some JB could probably fix that ;D. I wonder if you ran a weld bead around that exhaust collar it would loosen itself up.

The standard bore OEM Honda cylinder is $115 at Partzilla. That's not bad for the quality. I have an new OEM muffler for it also and from what I've read, it's not much of a performance killer to have the stock exhaust with the 88cc kit. I still have a little time to decide on which way to go. I am just trying to get the bottom end closed back up so that I can mount it in the frame and put the kickstand back on the bike. After that I am going to take it one parts fiche at a time and finish it up. I don't really need a whole lot of parts to finish it but the ones I do need are the more expensive ones like a new seat, tail light/bracket and ignition switch.

I would recommend the 88cc kit.

Out of my 3 Zeds the 125 is the funnest to ride. The 160 is too much power for the size and the stock 50 is fine to cruise on but any incline has me pushing with my legs as well.

Ha yeah that is what I thought. Maybe if I stuck some bigger tyres on but at the moment when you are flying along at 100kph a few cm from the ground and can stand the front wheel up by twisting the throttle quickly it gets a bit sketchy.

More updates: ordered a bunch of parts and got all but one part in. It just happens to be the kickstart shaft on back order and the cases can't be closed up until that's in. Bummer.

New parts. I've also noticed over the course of the last few years that this project has sat that Honda is starting to discontinue more parts for these bikes. I must have gotten some of the last rim halves back then. The key switch is still available from Honda so I picked one of those up before they go discontinued also.

Nice effects pedal setup....
Ha, yeah I dig the route 66 pedal. Its OD and compression with a clean mix for both sides. That and the carbon copy are probably my two favorites. I might have to grab a good flanger and go all Cure on everybody.

Carbon copy is one of my favorite pedals in my arsenal. MXR makes great stuff, I have their phase 90, boost pedal, and a modded blue box that sounds like the guitar solo in D'yer Makr when you crank it.

I'm a bass player (well, I was a bass player), besides a tuning pedal, the only pedal I ever used was a Big Muff Pi.

Justin you will always be a bass player. You can't get out of that.

I played rhythm guitar for 15 years or so, got stuck in a plateau skill wise and switched over to playing bass. I enjoy it, but it was an unpopular transition, going FROM guitar TO bass haha.

I guess in the end, I really just wanted to be like Jussy..
