Also, a lot of people are saying the stripe looks the duck's nuts. I had thought of it some time ago but changed my mind for some reason. I guess I just hadn't seen it done like that before.

I guess the paint has been planned....

This is the current state of the tank. I need to block sand a little and apply a little more filler to level a few things out, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with how it is.

I've also started sanding back the first coat of black painted parts with 600 grit. There'll be the usual video at some point in the next few days... or week...

There was also a sale on at the nearby Aussie Disposals (they do army disposals and caping gear) so I picked up a 1 1/2 man hiking tent (not really a 1 or 2 man but somewhere in between). I'm looking forward to loading this on with other stuff on the back and getting on the road at some point.

The 650 crankcase was breathhing excessive oil into the airbox and contaminating the airfilter causing the bike not to start which was bad mojo. I haven't sold it though, in fact I've decided not to. That wasn't the only thing but it was a $1500 bike and end up costing us around another grand for unforseen stuff. We just ran out of cash.

In the end a mate an I decided to switch it from a full synthetic 10W -50 (i think it was that) to a mineral 20W - 50 and it's cured. The problem is rings aren't available for these bikes so you have to modify the pistons to suit hyundai rings or something. It was looking like that was the issue but it seems maybe she just didn't like the oil.

It was the same oil I used to use in the 500 but from now on I'll be sticking with the mineral oil I think.

Ahh....gotcha. If you're rings ARE in question, try an manufacturer like Perfect Circle. They probably have something on the shelf that'll work and won't take any dodgy bodge job to fit up.
