"Dago" Resurrecting a 350F gently

So I mounted the rear wheel and I’m having a chain/sprocket to shock clearance issue. I have the 520 sprocket kit that is the 17t front and the larger 40t rear sprockets. When I put the end of the chain on the sprocket it is hitting the yss shock. I noticed the sprocket has a shoulder on the inside so I’m going to try to flip it around to see if it puts the sprocket over a bit to clear the shock.

I’m going to attempt making a battery/fuse box today but I may just look on eBay and see about finding a decent used one so I save some time. I’m still trying to fab up mounts to hold the front fender.

If you flip the rear will it mess with your straight line to the front? you don't want any offset between the front and rear or you'll destroy the chain and sprocket in a few miles.

Well it’s tough to say right now. The rear wheel is hanging free and there’s no swing arm bushings in so there’s play everywhere. It appears to be in line so I’ll run the chain and see first before I flip the sprocket. The sprocket shoulder is really only an 1/8” so it’s not big.

That swing arm is made for shocks with lower shock bodies. I assume those YSS shocks are eye to clevis, but with the eye on the body. Can the eye and clevis be reversed. Doesn't appear so, but just wanted to check.

Yea that seems to be the issue unfortunately. I may have to get different shocks because the spring is too low.

So I can’t flip the sprocket because it has the grove on the back for the hub studs. I forgot about that. Then i swapped to the old sprocket but it’s for 530 chain not 520. Forgot about that as well. So it looks like new shocks are in order. I don’t think there’s a good way to move them outward. Unfortunate because these are brand new and they weren’t cheap. Such as life I guess.

Well the chain works without the shock in the way.

Got the rear set brackets welded up. The peg position is about an inch or so below the swing arm mount 8” aft of the stock pegs. Trying to figure out what to do with all the space on the brackets. I may try to drill some design in them but we’ll see. I ordered our exhaust from 4to1 today. I couldn’t find my old headers from the 350f so can’t go that route anymore. I think they got scrapped at my uncles yard where I had them. I also ordered clutch and throttle cables, a used battery/filter box, a used kickstand because mine is nowhere to be found, and some rubber grommets for the side panel covers.

Here’s some pictures of the brackets and rear sets mounted.

Got some goodies in today that I will try to get on tomorrow. The battery box will help me figure out my rear fender and the other bits in the rear. Welded on the seat hoop yesterday and still need to smooth out the welds a little. Brought some pieces to the machinist to get made like a new spacer/seal for the xs650 front hub that will delete the speedo one. Will try to mount the rear blinker lights next. I have to order a head light, fuel lines and filters and headlight brackets.
