thanks for the prodding. I'm still at it but having some paint issues with the gold. Just came in from the garage now. Gold is complete and will be putting the tape on tomorrow, hoping to have it ready for the black on the weekend.

Got the parts masked and black sprayed this weekend. Have a few little issues like bleeding under the tape in the corners, but nothing major or unexpected. Going to leave for a few days and then wetsand and get it ready for clear, hopefully by next weekend, but no rush.
I'm very pleased with how it came out, just like I pictured it and mocked up in Photoshop. Hoping I can sand and clear it without messing it up. :

Thanks man, I'm pleased with it. Took it outside yesterday afternoon to see how it looked. Was hoping the sun would come out, but was still nice to see it in natural light.

Thanks. I went back and forth on it and I'm still not sure. Both will stay black for now, but I may bring an actual picture into Photoshop to see how they would look in gold.
Thanks doublej. It sure is wee too. When I moved it out of my garage yesterday it was like moving nothing. I'm used to moving my Gladius around which is around 450 lbs, the MB5 felt like a bicycle in comparison. Should be different riding it too.

However, I still think that the addition of a full fairing might push this motorcycle way the fuck over the top!

LOL, yeah I'd like to have a try at a fairing. Maybe some day. Goal now is to get it ready, inspected and on the road so I can get some seat time before the snow starts. After that...who knows I know either this bike or the CB350 will be having one.

Finally have all the clear coating done. Humidity broke for a couple of days, long enough for me to get it done. Gone back up to 100% again, so I got real lucky. I'm in love with the Spraymax 2K clear coat, goes on supper smooth and looks like its still wet. Even just from a gloss perspective, its so much better than Duplicolor. Still have a few small items to take care of but I'm getting close. Not getting much time to spend on it lately but hoping to get it running soon. Also, hoping the sun will break out soon so I can get some decent pics of the paint.
Also, big thanks to Pat at Pacomotorstuff for hooking me up with some seat foam. I've looked around town for quite a while but couldn't find what I was looking for. Pat has the goods and is great to deal with. I haven't got it installed yet as I'm giving the clear coat some more time to fully cure, but I'll post some pics when I get it on.

Finished off connecting the taillights and installing the kickstarter this morning. Also, got the taillight lens epoxied into the tail. Once they are dry I'll get the seat mounted and start in on cutting the foam to fit the seat. Bit nervous about that part to be honest. :-\

Finally got it mostly done today and fired it up. Had a bit of trouble starting it at first until I realized that the idle screw wasn't set since I cleaned the carb. Turned it a bit and it fired right up. Its not plated yet so I just took it around the neighbourhood to see how it was. There is a street just over from my house that was just paved and no houses, perfect spot.
Well performance is very disappointing, definitely something wrong. Fastest I was able to do was 30 mph. I was aware that this may happen because I wasn't able to ride it before tearing it down. When I bought it I lived on a busy street and wasn't able to take it for a test ride or anything, wasn't licensed either. So I was expecting like this and so I'm not terribly upset. I'll see if I can check the compression tomorrow and work on making a leak down tester. I'll find the reason before winter and then take my time gathering parts to fix up the engine.
Even with the lack of power it was a blast to ride. Bike felt very stable and very ridable. I really like the seating position, so it should be a fun little bike once I get the power back.
Sun was just setting when I had it out, which made for nice lighting for pictures.
