Faster!
Hi there everybody,
my name's Greg and I guess one or the other might know me from the odd other forum. I have a soft spot for old aircooled Japanese Junk and have had my fine share of tuned Suzuki GSes and (in the last few years) Kawasaki Zeds.
Nowadays I mostly fool around with spiced up Yamaha TR1s (please don't call it a Virago, cause you can't blame a child for its ugly brother, right?) and Yamaha Singles.
Once I've settled in, I'll probably start the odd build thread on my current Hotrod TR1-build (with a Turbo) and probably share a bit of info on my old "everyday" TR1, the so called tractor.
Talking of which, this is the Tractor in its most current form, with a homegrown stainless exhaust, VM38carbs, bigger brakes, different rear shock... well the kind of stuff you need in order to run a bike everyday (reliably):
Everyday is a nice catch-phrase, so especially during the Winter months we have a lot of snow in the Alps, so I ride my old SR500 sidecar, which I've mostly built myself. The engine is also slightly spiced up and it sports the very first stainless exhaust I did:
(as the picture is a bit older, it's not exactly as shiny anymore, but... well weathered)
Oh and just as Che had his unbreakable Norton, I have my unbreakable XT, which currently is broken again, as I've been playing around with hot cams and lightened rockers and nitrited surface of the reground cam ate the rocker-surface alive:
(390mm Bilstein shocks at the rear, revalved and resprung XT550 forks, the engine is a 515cc special (by me) fed via a TM36 and a special cam and some head work. Oh yes and a different exhaust and a modified airbox!)
Cheers,
Greg
