DTT BOTM WINNER
Time is flying by and it's time to start planning for the Ozarks ride in 2018. Last year we rode close to 800 miles and plan on trying to eclipse that this year! One thing is for certain, I won't be riding that much with clip-ons this year. I'm too old for that and don't like numb arms for a week.
This year the spot will be the same, Ponca, AR. Good food, hospitality and good food will be present. There is more than enough tent space (maybe not in the cabin) for quite a few of us to set up on Uncle Charley's property. Last year he also provided a shower with hot water plus shelter from the rain and I'm sure he will do the same again this year. His property is directly in the middle of miles and miles of great riding so if you like to ride and not just look at motorcycles, this event is for you. We had a ton of fun last year riding, swimming in the Buffalo River, eating at a few restaurants along the way, meeting other riders on the same journey as we were and hanging out around the fire at night. We are trying to split at least two of the days into an east of Ponca ride and a west of Ponca ride where we can all ride together for a full day. There are also tons of dirt roads if you are into the Levi style of riding and Irk and Kiley and....... everyone else with those cool endura motorcycles!

As more details get ironed out, I'll post them up here.

Time: May 25th thru the 28th
Place: Ponca, Arkansas

If you're in, send either myself or Mr. Eddie Chavez a PM or post here and we can get you set to roll.

Man that would be awesome! It's about a 12 hr trip from here, but I will see what the calendar has in store.

P.s. "Levi riding" is actually a derogatory term that roughly translates to "an unskilled off-road style of riding accomplished on heavy motorcycles and lack of wisdom"

Yeah Levi it's about a 10 hour trip for us to Ponca or 8 to Hot Springs. What we did for the last two years is to trailer the bikes and meet up with Eddie around Hot Springs and then ride the motorcycles up to Ponca from there.
I hope that I didn't offend anyone by using the Levi slang. ;)

Haha. I had no idea you guys did this.
We do and it would be good to have more DTT folks around for it too. It's a great 3 days of riding.

I can hardly wait, I already bought my one way ticket to Ponca, yeah i'm staying there this year and will live in my tent until I can grow a beard like Levi, (since that won't happen, I might have to stay there forever)

Cory, you mean you won't need to bring any shish kabob sticks with you this year? At least bring the zip ties.

All kidding aside. We (Cory and I and a few others who attended last year) have been tidiously looking thru many roads in google maps for the past 6 months or so, in order to plan some of the rides for that weekend.

Anyone that wants to trailer their bikes down to my house and head out from there to the Ozarks is welcome to (just give me a heads up)

Yeah Eddie, setting the timing on my bike with kabob sticks was Ichiban worthy for sure and it actually worked. I might have been in a bind without a metric tape though! Lol

I want to make it up this year. I'm still trying to get a bike worked out but should have plenty of time.

I'll surely be looking for the dirt roads as the 360 is fixin' to be sold this spring. Maybe I'll have to get a set of supermoto wheels built up before then 8)

Nick, dirt ride, road ride whatever would be cool. They have a few good hiking trails in the area too. I've been eyeing up the goat trail but I'll have too see if I can stop riding long enough to start hiking since this one is around 5 miles.

That looks like a great hike. If I was thinking I’d have saved the set of XL wheels I had and made a supermoto setup for this kinda weekend. I have some hubs and hoops...so maybe

that's exactly why im putting the 2 wheel sets together on the dr650, for that very reason

Fellas, I won't be making it this year. Sold a couple of bikes off and the BMW is apart for a head gasket.

Next year I'm riding up!

Got my tires on and ready.
Tested them out, and although the tires don’t make it a dirt bike. The bike no longer slips in the rear as much in back dirt roads climbs.

Well I might have a few excuses. I’m afraid the knobby tires won’t last too long on the asphalt. Will probably end up breaking away from the pack for a few miles and do some of this
