Glad to see things are still moving forward brother Joey, I have been so busy lately and have missed chatting with all of you guys. I hate that I have not had time to be on the site much nor have I had the time for working on Caroline, but I am grateful to have work and be busy. After such a long slow spell here and my wife being out of a job for so long, the business is a true blessing. I am still checking in from time to time, so keep up the work!

It is good to hear from you Brother and I am very happy that things are going well for you, in todays economy so many people are struggling to get by so it definately is a blessing to be busy, I am truly thankful for every job that comes through here as this is what takes care of my family. We have all missed you too Brother so keep in touch with us all here!

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! SHAVED FORK LOWERS

If I hadn't hacked mine to pieces, it would be yours for the taking, Joey! You managing to find a little time to work on this sexy lady?

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! SHAVED FORK LOWERS

again, i have not been to the forum in a bit,

has this bike been completed?

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! SHAVED FORK LOWERS

Brothers it has been very busy around here and as this is my personal bike and I am building it in my spare time I have not had a chance to work on it lately between work and family events.

I bought a cb450 to do a quick restoration on and ride so I took a little break from the reverse port to build it, there is a thread for the cb450 in the restorations section. I have also been dedicating a lot of time to Brother Habanero52's "La Pastinaca" engine build which there is a thread for as well here in the cafe racer section.

I am very close to having the reverse port running and should be able to get back to work on it very soon!

You all have been so supportive of this build and I could never thank you enough!

Here is a photo of where I am currently at on this build for those of you who are new to the forum and have not seen it yet!

Good to hear Joe! Can't wait to see.

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! GETTING BACK TO WORK!

Yes, get it running ASAP brother! I definately understand not having time to work though. I still only get a few evenings a week to work on Dolores. Tonight I have a soccer game to coach, tomorrow I have to spray for mosquitos, the next night I have torun the concession stand at the junior high football game, and on and on it goes. Good to see you working on her again though. You know I love her!

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! GETTING BACK TO WORK!

Yeah Joey, I now live closer to you and also Dothan is now in my sales teritory, so I will be coming through there at least once a month. I plan on dropping in to see you when I do! I want to see this beast in person! I am in Panama City now if you have not heard.

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! GETTING BACK TO WORK!

Brothers thank you all for your support! I have been very busy here at the shop this year and as most of you know this is my personal motorcycle that I am building in my spare time so it is taking longer than I had originally planned but that is ok as I wanted to take my time and do a lot of extra detail work anyway and the shop being busy truly has been a blessing as it is what takes care of my family!

Brother tWistedWheelz that is awesome that you are in Panama City now! I will send you the directions from there, I am only a little over an hour from Panama City and just a few minutes from Dothan so I hope to see you soon!

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! GETTING BACK TO WORK!

hey man, just ran across this today, and I have to say I love that seat. Did you make that yourself and if so how much time went into that. I have come to a point where I really dont have time to fabricate my own seat and thats really all I lack on my build. I have a 1981 cb400t. Was wondering if you had maybe more pics of it or knew of any for sale. I know they dont really sell seats like that outright but any info is good for me. Thanks man.

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! GETTING BACK TO WORK!

wow............i hope this bike is still going ahead!
i am such a fan......
trully inspiring......

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! GETTING BACK TO WORK!

I am not Joey, but I do know that he did make this seat from scratch. I got a chance to see this bike in person, and it looks even better in person.

I can't wait to see the end result on this bike!!

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! GETTING BACK TO WORK!

Brother Yamatech as Brother SlowRoad mentioned I did build the seat myself by hand here at the shop, the original post with the seat build photos is on page 48 of this thread however here is the original post so that you may see the photos easier!

"I still have a lot of work to do but I got the tail section into its basic shape, you all probably know by now that I like to be different and everyone has a fiberglass, aluminum, or metal tail section so I thought that I would build mine out of wood and then carve and woodburn the whole thing!

I really like the look of the old antique laminated wood gun stocks so I decided to build the tail section out of fifteen pieces and put them all togethor to get that look. I will let the photos show the work instead of writing a long post.

Here is a photo of the 1x6x6 wood I bought to build the seat.

I drew and cut out this first basic shape.
000_0019.jpg

I traced the shape to make the other fourteen pieces.

Here are all fifteen pieces sitting togethor.
000_0024-1.jpg

I used an adhesive to put all of the pieces togethor, after the adhesive dried enough to handle the tail section I traced the bottom outline that we drew onto the wood.

I let the adhesive dry over night and then I cut the basic shape out of the wood.
This is the bottom.

And this is the top.
000_0027.jpg

Next I started to carve the top and sides of the tail section.

000_0029.jpg

I filed and sanded more on the tail section and then started to shape the front of the seat to fit under the gas tank, I also started to smooth the seat section.

000_0007-2.jpg

I still have a lot of shaping that I want to do and I am going to carve and woodburn the whole tail section, I am also thinking about cutting channels into each side of it as well. I am not sure what all I am going to carve into it but it will definately be getting the family race number 7. After I finish carving and woodburning it I am going to stain and clear it."

Brother sinbad85 the support of Brothers like yourself are what is truly inspiring and the reason that I keep working hard to build bikes like this! Everyones compliments and support mean more to me than I could ever put into words! I am still working on finishing the detail work however we have been very busy here at the shop so there is not a lot of time for me to work on my personal projects however I do hope to have her completed this spring!

Brother SlowRoad I was really honored to have you here and you know you are always welcome any time for a visit!
