Really tough to decide. Great lot of machines here. I feel a personal connection and have drawn so much from Nates thread that I had to vote my heart here. GO NATE!!!

Wow, another amazing list to choose from!! 8) 8) 8) 8)

If I didn't have a personal connection, I don't know how I could choose!

But I do know Dave... his vision and mad skillz are all over his growing "fleet" of XS650's!! He gets my vote this month for the "Roustabout XS650 Transformation"!! ;D ;D

Good luck everyone! :D

A "Hell Yeah" on Roustabout's XS transformation. This is no garage queen, sounds wicked and idles like a jack hammer! ;D ;D ;D

Guys,
I really appreciate the nice comments and the nomination for BOTM. I have not had a lot of time to browse the board lately due to the holidays, work and many other things, but Byrdman let me know that we had both been nominated this month. I purchased this bike because I had been looking for an older Guzzi to keep for my every day mule to get me around. These old Guzzis will run forever, are simple to work on, have torque to spare and then there is there sound....

Just riding a Goose to work in the morning will give me a much needed attitude adjustment and makes things seem a bit better. I found this bike posted on craigslist one weekend afternoon after passing by the computer and on a whim, checking to see what was for sale. It was the fifth listing or so from the top and it had a number. I scrambled to get my phone and called. I got no answer, so left a message. I then sent an email saying I was interested and left my number again. I then called back again for good measure, but still got the machine. I figured it was gone anyway and went on about my day. Several hours later the phone rang and it was the fellow returning my call. After a brief discussion I was on the way to his house with 1500 dollars and my trailer in tow. He is an older teacher who bought the bike from the North East sight unseen over 10 years before. He flew up and rode it home in rain the whole way. He rode it to florida a few times and who knows where else. He decided that it was time to let it go because it spent most of it's time these days sitting under a tarp in the driveway, and last time when he had tried to ride the bike, it would only shift between 2nd and third. He wanted to be sure that I was aware that this bike needed someone who understood how to get it back in shape and it was not ready to be ridden in it's current condition. I assured him that I am familiar with Guzzis to an extent and own another one also that will keep it company in the garage. This is how it looked the next morning:

I thought about it for a while, to decide what I should do with it, and decided to go ahead build it like I wanted to. Here are some photos showing how it turned out....

Since I have completed it I have really enjoyed riding it when I had time to do so. I have mostly used it for transportation to work and on errands, but have had the occasion to flogg it some to see what it would do. I went out with some guys with sport bikes on a spirited ride, and also took it to the drag strip just for fun. I thought it did really well in both cases and was quite respectable. I have managed to nearly shread through the rear tire already, and it is badly in need of a wash job, but other than that it is doing really well. I thought about washing it the other day when it warmed up a bit, but after rolling it outside I went and got my helmet and went for a ride instead.......

SausageMahoney got my vote. His CL360 kicks ass and I'll picking one up soon to get started on. I plan to build pretty much what you have done but probably with a green instead of orange. Major props to you and your bike!

What happened to the one with pink streamers? Are we getting too uptight over here?

I see now that he bowed out gracefully as a gentleman. I get to re-vote now.
The 360 it is.

lol idk about everyone else but im sick of ties already.
+1, I think all the winners have been very deserving! But I would like to see a single winner and a banner made with one spotlight bike! I think every bike should get its time in the limelight on its own. They all deserve that! I have a hard time deciding my vote every month, I think others do too and that is why it is always so close.

Beat the Clock and Loudbike in DEC warranted a tie. Those bikes are easy winners if they were not paired.

I thought it was funny as hell at first that Tim put my daughters bike in the mix.....but then I thought it was just a little to much. I didnt want you guys to waste votes on me,having some fun, when there are so many "real" bikes that deserve it. All in all I had alot of fun doing my thing, and that the rest of you were accepting of my dumb shit antics.
And let the record show!! That BMW is one bad ass looking bike!!

Wow, didn't really expect my BMW to be this popular. Thanks guys!!

The short background story:

When I decided I wanted to build a caferacer for myself I a first set out looking for a Moto Guzzi. The guy that offered me a test ride on a Le Mans he had for sale also had a BMW R100 and insiseted I should try that one aswell. It was love at first sight. His BMW was way to expensive for the shape it was in and I decided I wanted a mono, so I looked for another one.

This is the one I found:

As you can see: Not in the best of shapes, but it had some nice parts (Wilbers suspention, a 1000cc engine instead of the 800 of the standard mono) and it was cheap. Cheap is the key word in my build: I'm a student and I really don't have much to spend. So I had to be creative, for example:

The seat area is made of a bicycle carrier I found in someone's trash (Yes, I have no shame)

And I made the exhaust out of a gravy bowl and a thermos for coffee:

And I used a salt and vinegar set of IKEA for velocity stacks.

The only expensive part on my bike is the Acewell tacho. I definetely wanted a tacho, a rev counter and all the idiot lights, but I also wanted a minimal cockpit. This was in my eyes by far the best thing to do:

And this is the result:

And a video:

That, in short, is the story of my bike. I'm sorry if it wasn't in perfect english. It's not my first language and I'm a lot better with an angle grinder than I am with a keyboard.

Wow,,, wot a amazing list of top notch bike's . they are all on my wish list ;D ;D

My vote go's to 'ROUSTABOUT' check out his build link....http://dotheton.com/index.php?topic=1824

No contest, Metaltriumph's Z650 is stunning. I love everything about it: the new dash, choice of lights, the polished tipple-tree... and the paint is stunning.

Sausage's CL360 was a close second though.

For me, the BMW and Guzzi were out from the beginning. Not that their work was bad, I just hate the look of those engines so much that nothing could ever overcome that disadvantage.

On a side note, I vote for no tie. If the votes end up even, I say we should have a run off.
