Hey, folks! We make these here in Seattle, as a hobby (we have other jobs). We've had great reviews on the other ones we've made: the Moto Guzzi V7's and the Triumph Thunderbirds, and we're trying to get some traction on 550s. Thanks for reading!

Feel free to reach out with any questions. Or skip the Ebay interface, and email me directly for $20 off the Ebay price?

Looks good.. I want to keep up with this thread should I go in this direction. Just waiting on my seat to arrive first.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it odd to want to eliminate a rear fender in Seattle?

but kudos to him for including a plate mount and having a nicely finished product
after all there is nothing more ridiculous looking and hazardous than the ever popular license plate/taillight hanging off the side of the swinger ::)

You're entitled to your opinion stylistically, but what makes you think a side mount plate is dangerous?

Good looking product by the way, what's the finish?

Though that was funny too - but it does look well made. Best luck, fellas

re side mount plates
99% of the ones i see will act as a meat clever on you leg if you get caught out in a lowside and or snap your ankle/leg in a left side bail
these are the things idiots don't think of when they bolt on sharp shit hanging right out there , right where you can and are likely to get caught up in it
on top of all that it looks fucking stupid
the builder above has a clean alternative to a problem and i wish him luck with it

haha well spoken sir, ive never been a fan of the side mounts either, im dragging pegs as it is.

maybe the finish is a crinkle version of truck bed paint or undercoating paint.

Holy cow, whoops! I posted this and somehow didn't notice there was some activity and responses. Sorry.

Yeah, the part is black ABS plastic. I know, I know - I love aluminum, and steel, and we can do those, but the ABS drives the cost way down and it's functionally better than the metal options in many ways. It's as strong as aluminum, and lighter, and it has a memory that reverts to it's original shape after it takes a hit. The upper side is a textured finish - like, that's actually what the plastic manufacturer calls it. The underside is smooth.

Okay, so full disclosure that you asked about the finish: FYI, we ran about 6 of them "upside down", meaning that the textured side is down, and the smooth side is up. I didn't think it mattered for a part that the whole point is making it invisible or inconspicuous, but it occurs to me that all the road crap that comes up from the back wheel is going to hit that surface. I'll bet nobody reallys goes up there and cleans it out much, but IF you did, it will come off a lot better off the clean surface (that we intended to make) than the textured surface (which is the 6 upside down parts.)

So I really can't sell those for full price. The part is $110 on Ebay or $90 here but I'd happily sell any of those 6 parts for half that - if anybody really just had a project budget or whatever. Thanks!

Hey, one more thought: it sounds what folks really want is this part for the 750's. But we need a test bike to get that part in the pipeline. Are there any of you folks in the Seattle area with a CB750 that wants to come into Ballard for a test fitting? We'll get our measurements and you'll get a free fender eliminator. Hit me up!

Unfortunately, chucklump, we don't know. We need donor bikes in the Seattle area to finalize measurements for other bikes.

Well, folks, these 550 fender eliminators just aren't selling, despite some nice reviews. Who knows! Time to get them out of my garage and move on with my life. Gonna make some parts for the CB750 and the Suzuki TU250. (After I finish a a bunch of stuff around the house on this list my wife gave me…)

I lowered the Ebay price to $70 plus $9 shipping, but for you folks on the forums, $60 plus $9 shipping. You folks have been so helpful and nice to us! Thanks a lot, call me with any questions.

(FYI, here's the Ebay listing:)

I'm wondering that as well... There's a good chance these could be fairly universal.

Chucklump or D4N63R, please send me a private email.

I can get you some numbers, or physically mail you a raw part to try out.

Hey, folks. With help from you guys on this forum, we have put together some fender eliminators for 750s, along the same lines as these 550 parts. What mostly happened was we sold a half dozen 550 parts and had dozens of requests for the same part for the 750.

Just tagging this post in case you were watching it, but I will run a new classified ad for the new parts later this week: $85 plus $9 shipping. But if we spoke before, feel free to reach out to me at ben@zaogardening.com. Thanks.
