Well update on the bracket, after talking with a few people a whole lot smarter than me looks like this won’t be the last revision. I’ll need to radius all the sharp edges on the inside cut out, and I have to make the cut out smaller to give the bracket more strength

So to the detriment of my bank account, I've invested in a set of Cognito-moto rearsets, hopefully postage is still running on time and it will arrive in a week's time and coincide with OMM's prototype bracket.

CB750 DOHC 1979-1982 Billet Aluminum Rearset Brackets

Specially designed to be a perfect fit. These bolt on to the axle pivot bolt and lower motor mount. Passenger peg mounting brackets will need to be removed from frame. Made from 6061-T6 aluminum, these are made to ensure pegs are even, straight and thick enough to provide solid support. Bracket...

And congrats with the rearsets. They are modelled after the Tarozzi, which they sold before making their own. You can see the on some of the photos of brackets.
I think they are the most awesome looking aftermarket rearsets. I modelled mine after Dime City Cycles original rearsets as it's a flat design made it easier to copy. I'm posting a link to them, as they have some good ideas on how to make the linkages:

I saw your rearsets they came up a treat. I dont like the way the cognito-moto brackets fail to follow the shape of the frame, I'll probably find out there is a good reason for the shape, but that will be after I get to test the OMM prototype

One thing I noticed when I took Frankenhonda out for her first test run many moons ago, was that having no mirrors was a safety issue. In a bid to remedy the issue I got myself some handlebar mirrors. Unfortunately one of the mirrors arrived scratched, so while I wait for a replacement I though I’d fit the good one.

I don’t mind them.

Things left on the punch list; remake tacho delete, rearset brackets, license plate holder, exhaust hanger, then I think we’re go.

It’s funny how these things blow out lol, I though I’d be riding NY 2019 look like it may be Christmas 2020 now, the projects going on ice until August as I’m off to work for a long rotation :/ can’t wait to start with my two weeks isolation in a hotel room.

So while I’ve been away working there has been a little bit of movement in Old Man Murphys shed.

The template is on the mill and OMM is making sure my amateur template measures up with the holes in one of our proven brackets.

Once this has been completed then we can move to the next stage.

In other news

this bad boy is getting speced up for us and will become a new addition to the garage arsenal in a few months time. time to get our CAD on.

Yea Jimbo, it’s been on the cards for a long while and there has been a lot of umming and ahhhhing but no action. So it was time to pull the trigger.

Probably not expecting us to be any good for the first 12 months until we get the hang of it but after that I’m hoping for OMM engineering to start doing a few custom motorcycle parts.

Don't know if I'm correct, but that machine looks like 3-axis cnc mill. l made my rearsets on a 3-axis and it is an awesome tool to work with First of all, I'll encurage you by saying it isn't hard to get the hang of. When using 3-axis, you basically model in 2D, and specify height in the toolpath. With some help I was able to draw and operate the mill my self in a couple of evenings (I'm just borrowing it from time to time). Probably the hardest bit for me was finding the right endmill shape, endmill speed (revolutions) and milling speed. But that's because the owner uses it for milling wooden signs, and theres no liquid cooling (have to monitor material expansion and spray cooling by hand ).

I recon you, with your fabrication skills and understanding of 3D space/design will have it up and running and producing beautiful parts in no time :thumbsup

Hey LKS, you have a keen eye, well they have finished making it and now we are waiting to find out when she will arrive. Unfortunately due to some delays I think I will miss it completely, which will mean it’s going to be 4-5 months before I’ll get to have a go, but we will see what the shipping gods say.

I’m glad that the modelling part isn’t that hard i was dreading that part. I’m going to use the down time to prep up the garage by modifying the bench space to accomodate the machine, vac, and compressor. In addition I think OMM was talking about us making a mister for it. Now that I’m held up in a quarantine hotel for the next 2 weeks there will be plenty of time to plan and order the required parts so that I can come home and hit the ground running.

I’m really looking forward to this, we will start by focusing on getting some cool prototypes together for the 82 CB 750, then once we have a few good ones move on to another model of bike. I’m hoping to eventually have a small OMM custom line out over the next 12-24 months, but we will see how we go, could be full scale zombie apocalypse by then, who knows

It’s been way too long, unfortunately I’ve been working overseas for the last 10 weeks, and now I’m in a quarantine hotel for the next 2 weeks before I can get back to the shed. Dam COVID gone and messed up my shit.....me and a few billion other people.

The bike was a runner, for a bit but then I found an oil leak and decided while I fixed that I would install an oil cooler, then I started messing around with the rear-sets, and foot pegs... as I’m typing this I’ve just realised I need to make up another plug for the now redundant tacho drive because the original plug I made leaks.

Hopefully I get some of this sorted while I’m home. The state I live in is looking like going into stage 4 restrictions, whatever that is.

Not sure where OMM is with the rear-set mounts, he’s been flat with other things out of late.

The build is coming on 4 years now I really got to get my ass into gear

Amen to that - my CB build is at the 2 year point now. Crazy. Still, good to hear you're still at it - I'll look forward to seeing what you and OMM pull outta that cnc rig. Fabricating and selling your own custom line of parts? OMM Inc? Marketing man's dream. You in Victoria? Heard Melbourne has it pretty bad. Stay safe mate, keep on keepin' on
