Full Face or 3/4 Helmet?

Been Around the Block
Im an idiot. I have 10 helmets. 3 Bell Bullit's which I now hate because you cant use a Sena headset with them and 4 3/4 daytonas as seen below.

What your preference in a helmet? Full face or 3/4?

Modular. I wear HJC because that is my head shape. I also have a 3/4 that I wear occasionally. Then I have a Sena SMH5 set that fits either. I leave the mic and earpieces in and just swap the main module out of the holder and plug it in. Had I been wearing the 3/4 when I went down on I-40 at 50mph in 2016, I would have had serious facial injuries. As it was, I was ATGATT and had a mild wrist fracture that really didn't need the cast they put on it. Destroyed all of my gear, but not a drop of blood. I once had about 10 helmets, but sold a bunch for $3 apiece to a neighbor because I just didn't see the need to have them. I still have five (plus one for the wife).

Glad you survived the crash. Gear is important, but in Summer in NYC its just tshirts, a full face and gloves for me. In the pic of me above, note those stupid gloves I had on.

Over summer, and uber driver ran a light and hit me and I went down. Look at what happened to my hand:

My face ain't all that pretty but it's the only one I have. Full face, EVERY TIME, period. (And in the spirit of full disclosure, for medical reasons I have to wear RGP contact lenses in order to see and can't deal with any wind on my eyes. But having said that, before the eye issues it was still always full face.)

I wear ATGATT in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana (all the way to NOLA) in all seasons. Nothing hotter than sliding on asphalt! All of the mesh armor that I was wearing in August 2016 was replaced no questions asked by insurance. Boots, armored mesh overpants, armored jacket, gloves, helmet and SMH5. I still have a big scar about 3" diameter on my left knee from sliding down Folly Beach Road in 1975 wearing just jeans, boots, denim jacket, gloves, and helmet.

Full face all the time. I just got myself a Schuberth C4 on clearance for $350 at Revzilla. You can add a fully integrated Sena system to it. The helmet is prewired with microphone and speakers.

But it fits me and I don’t fit the Bell helmets so it likely wouldn’t work for you.

I’m surprised you can’t fit a sena to the Bullit.

All that said, I have an SMH10 that I’ve had for years and hardly use. Why so desperate to use a headset?

I like riding with music. each of my Daytonas has hardware for my Sena 10S which I just switch from helmet to helmet. See below:

Full face, no questions. I wear gloves, jackets, pants and boots every time I get on the bike unless its in the shed and I'm just making engine noises.
T-shirt, regular jeans? No thanks, I'll rather not take that chance.

Only Full Face. I have landed on my face before and the full face protected me. Last time (2015) I rode in a t-shirt and jeans, I crashed. 2nd degree separation of my shoulder and crush injury to my thigh muscle. Full gear might have reduced injury to my shoulder, either way, it is full gear from now on. It's not comfortable in the heat, especially on my TL100R which you can cook eggs on, but gotta tough it up.

Did someone hit you or did you crash?

What difference does it make?. When it comes to smacking the ground a full face helmet is the best
My daily is a scooter, some people give me shite for a full face but I will not risk it (38 years ridding experience)

That was a question I asked *him*

I asked for a reason UNRELATED to whether he was wearing a 3/4 or Full Face

Stop getting your panties in a bunch man.
You seem to want to fit in around here, so stop getting pissy at the little stuff, and stop posting the pictures of yourself. No one cares. Keep that crap on instagram, we come here to see motorcycles and talk shit/shop.
Follow those 2 guidelines and you'll be fine.

Me I always ride full face (ADV helmet). I've had enough road rash to know I don't want any on my face, or to grind my nose off sliding down the road at 70.

At some point I'll probably go full dork and get a modular. Maybe if Arai ever starts making them. I'm lazy so I hate having to take off the helmet when I'm only going to be off the bike for a minute or two, like if I'm running in to a pizzeria to pick up a pie, etc. Usually I just leave it on, which unfortunately can come across as somewhat antisocial in a full-face.
