GL500 Cafe Fighter

Hey guys, Thought I'd toss up some pics of our new build. Took an ugly stock GL500 and turned into a mean Cafe racer. We took inspiration from today's streetfighters and of course classic Cafe Racers.

We're taking her down to a local spot this weekend for some nice pics. I'll post 'em up as soon as we get 'em. For more pics of the build you can look us up on facebook. www.facebook.com/InvasionKustoms ;D

ummm... fu.... wow. Very, very nice. I've been keeping an eye out for GL500s recently, something about them wants me to make a nice cafe bike. Now I know why. Again, WOW!

Thanks, it's great seeing these old bikes get new looks and lives ;) I'm trying to talk my buddy into turning his '85 Interceptor into a Cafe Fighter.

Looks very sharp!

Can you share some info as far as rear shock? Your swinger looks a tad steep with the bike unloaded. Any issues with the drive shaft?

Also, what are you doing for air filtration/pods/stacks?

Is that a CB400F tank?

I find it refreshing to see one without the Deluxe tank that most use. (although I do like both)

Well Done!

The rear shock is off of a SV650, once you sit on it she levels out. No problems at all with the drive shaft. My shock is off an '03 SV650, pretty much bolted right up. Just needed some shims top and bottom.

The tank is from a CB400f It took some frame alteration to get it to fit, but it looks good and I love that style tank. The original tank is now the tail, also the tail light was made using the original lens.

As far as intake, I have very little room between the battery and carbs, so I made my own velocity stacks and added some air filter foam in side them to keep the dirt out. Here's a couple pics.

About a 1/2" between the battery and stack
