Haojin hj15/Honda cg125 charging problems

Just bought this 2011 bike with charging issues, its not charging correct, we meassured 20,5v when i run the starter, and when it runs, its not charging.
I think i should buy a recrifier, Can i buy at standard 5wire unit (5-10$)
Or do you Think the problem is something different?

I assume that the 20.5V measurement is across legs of the stator when the engine is running?

Do you have a wiring schematic for the motorcycle?

Its meassured at the battery, while trying to start it with the starter.
When the bike is running, the voltage keeps dropping slowly down!
I dont have a schematic, im having problems finding anything to this chinese product

See if this will work for you. They aren't the same, but the electricals and engine stuff should be the same, or similar.

Are you sure you have the multimeter set to read DC voltage?

It would be uncommon to see more than 15V at the battery (unless the regulator/rectifier is broken).

Irk miller: thanks for the link, it Will ve very helpfull

Sonreir: yes we are sure it is in DC
Can i buy at standard 5wire rectifier om ebay? They even come with the right Color wires at only 5-10 dollars

Probably. A lot of them have questionable quality, but it should at least let you know if that's the problem or not.

Hi I’m Sarahs dad
And we still can’t get it to charge the bike, it runs without the battery, it just won’t charge.
I get around 4-8Vdc out of the regulator and when I measure ac from the stator I only get 2volts
I have 8ohms between the two wires from the stator and both have “ground” to the bike, what I can find on YouTube, suggests that it’s the stator that is broken???

No ground between the stator wires is good. If you did have ground, it would mean the stator is bad.

Unfortunately, 8 Ohms is very high for a reading between the stator wires. Generally, you want 1.0Ω to 2.0Ω (with a preference to the lower end of that scale).

Any chance the terminals are corroded or something similar?

No i don’t think so, I measured directly on the coils , where the wires are soldered directly to them, I had the motor cover off, and there are no visual wrong with it.

Do you have a service manual to confirm my guess on the stator? Usually the manual will have electrical specs on the stator and the testing procedure.

Yes i have this! See picture. As I read it, the resistance should be under 1ohm and I had 8.
Does that mean, a new alternator ?

Perfect. Thanks.

So one white wire, one yellow wire, and one black/white coming from the alternator?

From the alternator, I have a pink and a yellow to the RR unit
See photo I know the quality is not the best

OK.

Unplug the alternator from the harness and test resistance between the yellow and pink wire.

Then, test resistance between the yellow wire and the battery negative terminal and then the pink wire and the battery negative terminal.

Well now I took the measurements at the plug where I disconnected the RR
And I do have 1,2ohm between the pink and yellow
And 23M ohm between pink and ground and 23M ohm between yellow and ground.

The megaOhm value is probably OK so I think the stator is OK as well.

One more test to rule it out completely.

Reconnect the stator to the bike and then disconnect the regulator/rectifier.

Start the bike and then read AC voltage across the yellow and pink wires on the rectifier plug on the harness. You should see somewhere between 10VAC and 20VAV. Rev the bike up to 3000 RPM or so and the voltage should increase to closer to 50VAC.

If you're getting good numbers, then the stator is good.

Next step would be to test the regulator/rectifier or just replace it if you're tired of testing.

Our unit is a good match for your bike: http://www.sparckmoto.com/Products/Detail/7

Well I reassembled the bike and now it won’t start
I haven’t really taken anything apart, so I have to figure that out first,
And then continue with the charging issue later
