Harley street bob - turned touring

well guys with my brother buiding the gold wing i have had my own little project on the side for my harley as well... main part of it is the motor.... going from the 88, to a 97, heads, cams, flat top pistons, adjt pushrods, bore, welded and balanced crank... should be at 100ft tourque and 100hp after it is done
but i am also making some comfort changes so that i can tour on it. figured i would bring you guys up to speed on that
we start the motor work next week! i am stoked to get rocking on this. my buddy builds harley race motors so he is going to be helping me with the motor part of the build

buying all the crap from HD is stupid $$$ so i am just going to make my own!

trying to do a quick realease for touring... sneak peek! remember this is all quick release (or will be once done)

swapped out the stock bucket and went with a monster 7.5 lamp with a H4 bulb... insane bright

even tossed a few red LEDs inside the bucket to go with the rest of the bike

next i wanted a custom front fender... so i cut the stock brace out of my stock fender and got a lid from a HD fat bob and then made them work together:

then i cut it to make sure it was slammed

on and powdered... now i can run a fatty 120 front tire and keep it under the lid!

what is a touring bike without storage

i picked up a set of old FLH bags from ebay stupid cheap
made a support plate to hande the new weight of the bags on the inside so that i can make them quick release.

possitioned the bracked i picked up from a local company (have since been doing busn with them on the regular for customers)

well.... finally got the hook up on a inner fairing, my buddy owns a bike shop in west virginia and they had one in the back... will take a bit of molding and working but it should work out great.... now how to shove 1000 watts of stereo in there, GPS, and charging docs... should be intresting, plus i got my dads to do after that
bear in mind that alll this is completely detachable in less than 3 min to have a stripped down bob for some ripping around this is just for our big trips

the back plate that a customer of ours welded up for me so i can rock a trunk for long trips, of course we slapped some black powder on it

got the new tail light/plate in, still need to powder it to match the tins, have an extra rear fender here so i tossed it up to see how it is going to look. JUST LOVE IT!!!!! will be perfect to get rid of the stock boner looking tail light, and keep it sleek for when my bags are off. very pleased with this!
since i am cutting 2 fenders and making 1 out of them i am not done all the way. my new fender will have a 4 inch extension from the stock so that i can make some fills to fill in the area between the fender and bags but i am not done welding up the fender yet (well my buddy is not done welding the fender yet)
but here is the light i will powder to match the tins and french in, did a mock up on a extra fender (i will also tap turn signals in there as well)

and last! fresh off the CNC, i am making my apes quick release with the all internal wireing left, this way i just unplug and plug in the new, for long trips i will rock this. after i finish powdering them, i am also not using drags i am using some flat tracker bars to get me about an inch higher... what can i say i like big bars!

Awesome work Joe. Fender turned out sweet and I love how fast you can switch it up. One minute she is bopping around town the next she is ready for a big ole trip. Sweet! First thing I thought of was Transformers. I found this and it turned out to be pretty cool.

I had the feeling. That is awesome! I can't wait! did you hear that the Dime City crew from Florida is considering coming? Will be so cool for everyone to meet up. Anyway, are you considering riding and if so will you have a sag wagon?

we are riding... right now it is me, my brother (maria on back with me and tiff on back with my brother) he is going to be on his goldwing.... when we finish it.... and my buddy mitch... i am sure the pack will grow when my buddies hear road trip... no chase vehicles man we are riding this sucker.... my brother may pull a trailer with our camping gear but Mitch rides a BMW adventure so we can stash a ton of crap on that and the wing... stoked for it!
have to get a touring seat for the bike for the wife to have a bit more padding on her ass for the ride, and toss on the air shocks... but we will be rolling.... dont worry with all the motor work, and my exhaust set up, you will hear me! ha ha ha
