Hello from "Lake Effect"

Just an intro to share my "sanity" projects during the harsh winters in NW PA. I posted "Ruby" in bike pictures today. Let me know if you like it. I'm currently working on a 1974 BMW R60/6 Cafe this winter. I'm an old guy so go easy on me.

How's it going mate, salutations from Montreal - couldn't find the thread with your photos but welcome none the less. Harsh winters here too, big dump of snow yesterday and plenty more to come. Working on my CB750 this winter - plenty of helpful folk here so you're in the right place

Re: Hello from "Lake Effect"

Sweet ride, I borrowed a '75 R60 a few years ago. Beautiful machine. Define old... I'm 40 and some people my age don't do anything other than watch tv lol.

Here's where I list all my bikes:
'71 Kaw 250 Bison
'81 KZ750 cafe
'94 XR250L
2014 Yamaha Bolt

In progress: '68 CL350

Still trying to figure out how to post a picture, I posted in my images

Do a search in Gallery for "Ruby" and pics of my CB-750F will come up. Sorry guys still figuring this out. I spend more time in the shop and only on the computer for parts and inspiration.

My inspiration came from watching Dutin Kott transform old treasures. I spent a winter watching "Naked Rides" and old episodes of "Cafe Racers." I was so pumped at what I saw I went into the basement were my 1979 CB-750-F was sitting since I graduated college in 1980. Tank was missing, cylinders rusted, on and on. 2 winters later "Ruby" was born again.

Added an 836 kit, die ground factory rear sets, stainless pipe from Delkevic with a Carpy tip, forks from a CB-900 (39mm vs. 35mm), took three ebay sets to make one good one, Benelli Mojave chrome tank, hand made a seat pan and leather upholstery.

Runs and rides fantastic, I spend a lot of time explaining the Cafe Racer movement to onlookers. I took Ruby to the "Cafer Racer" mag ride in show this summer in Sweckley PA, and Dustin gave me a few "At a Boys". I'm hooked, the BMW is next. I want to do a bike a winter. I' ve been into bikes since I was 13 and follow all aspects of the sport but the Cafe scene really has me going. I think it's the artists you meet and what they are able to do.

Keep the fire burning you guys!
