Hello gentlemen

Headlight came a lot quicker than I had expected, had to get some smaller brackets...seems big compared to the original but I don't think it's too big for the frame/bike...might take a while to get used to. It's 6.5" led, can't wait till it gets dark
May shorten the bracket a few cm's down the road
Paul

Had a bit of nice weather so done the oil and clearances and FINALLY managed to get on with the seat, still not finished the upholstery part...going to glue foam onto a piece of left over plywood, upholster that and then velcro it to the seat pan. Made the cafe racer hump into a bit of storage so I can carry around some tools

Been a while, fitted some new rear shocks from aliexpress, they were pretty big so hsd to cut down the chain guard a bit, they are much stiffer/better than stock
And new front levers, put a braided front brake line and decided to convert her to hydrolic clutch too, I like the symmetry...
Still gotta get the front forks sorted, the side panels done, seat finished, new carb to go on once the manifold arrives and got some dear sets I'm going to try and put on but will involve welding so putting that off for now
Been a bit quiet in here of late, hope you're all enjoying your aces...ride safe
Paul

Side panels mocked up...need to rivet some tags and final shaping and sanding. Might do some sort of cut out? With mesh behind or something...maybe too much aluminium...I've still got 1m2 of the stuff left too

Hi Paul,

I think you might be correct... it does look like too much plain aluminium.

Excuse the crappy mock-ups, but triangular cutouts with black mesh behind or a heap of small 'speed holes' would make the side panels look smaller.

Yeah, like the lots of holes one better...cheers for the input I'll do something probably big holes at the front end getting gradually smaller towards the back...the idea was to try and make them look like fighter jet

No worries If you are going for a fighter jet look, what about adding some mesh to the inside of the curved opening at the front and pulling the rearmost ends further inboard to accentuate their look as intake scoops. ?

Blimey, just checked the dates...it took this long to actually get the step drill bits...so did some holes, will add mesh behind later and also got a step further with the seat...little locking compartment for a really small tool kit

I wish I could get an ACE here in the states... would make for the perfect little bar-hopper

They're a great little bike and so easy to mod and toss around. My other ride is a Suzuki M109R, but the big smiles come from the Ace. Look for Snake Motors. I think they're exported to the States and they're pretty much similar

You could always get an old cg125 to mess about with, there is a company in Britain called ooracing that do tanks/seats etc that you could transplant to get a similar look...might be prohibitively expensive though??
There was also a rumour on Facebook group a couple of months ago about skyteam developing a 250 variant to meet new EU specs...it might also meet USA requirements?? Or they might have just been confusing it with the snake motors bikes that sneikz mentioned?
