Help!! fiberglass seat pan for 74 cb550

you either have to make some mounts to raise it up off the frame and let it overlap the sides, or you have to cut your subframe off and have a flat subframe made up from 1" tubing. (maybe 1-1/8" tubing)

I made fiberglass cross members to support my weight and made radius indents to fit the frame..

If you are familiar with fiberglass you can use foam and glass to fabricate mounting tabs on the seat.

Don't have any pictures with me but I can post some later.

I was thinking of just adding a support bracket along the frame in the area of the level shown in picture? any thoughts

My seat was a shell, carved of foam then glassed. so I put three cross supports about 1" tall by 1/2" thick to support my weight. It could probably support 300 lbs.

If it's a decent seat you shouldn't need to reinforce it , though.

I think if I add a cross support from the shock area towards the front it should infill the area and able me to have full support.

What's it look like underneath? If it's solid enough as is to support your weight, just weld a few tabs onto the frame and bolt through the seat

I have already drilled holes and epoxied bolts through the seat( you can kind of see them in pic on top of pan) I was concerned about the seating cracking if I crank down on the bolts.

Rubber mount it, too. Spacers, etc. a little something to dampen the vibrations.

You don't need to crank them down. Snug them up and use a lock washer/nut. The seats not going to go anywhere with you on it

I used heavy Velcro to hold my seat on. See the stunt bike thread in my sig.

It was strong enough to top out the shocks when I tried to pull it off the first time.
