Long time biker here with a penchant for litre sports bikes until recently when I decided to try an MT10 (FZ10) and the rest is history. I now have a 2018 MT10 in the garage.
l like to pick up a cheap bike most years and usually end up doing a rolling resto and selling it to basically recoup my money/make a few pounds/save another cracking bike from the big bike scrapyard in the sky.
This year the project happened to be a 99 ER5 Kwaker which found its way home with me for £100! About $130?
It has 40k on the clocks and is worth maybe £800 when reinstated on the road so realistically it’s not really worth my time. Now I’ve seen a lot of beardy guys getting into the cafe/brat/scrambler scene of late and seeing as I’m no stranger to a welder I thought I’d do something different for a change.
I did however make the mistake of registering on CR.net and let’s just say after a week on there and their condescending attitude to anyone doing anything out of the ordinary or having the Gaul to build a cafe racer out of something so modern I decided to part company and ditch them.
Heres what I found for the pocket money sum. I’ll start a build thread in the appropriate sub forum and update it as I go. Hopefully you guys will give me a break and maybe even enjoy my journey. I’m a member of lots of bike forums and can be quite helpful if given the chance as I’ve been around for a while.
