Well took the throttle cables out of the equation and bench synced the carbs per manual. The bike fires up first kick once it was warm. Still needed choke for the first couple times . It still idles insanely high with the choke on. I went with the lowest main jet I had which was a 190 and a 30 pilot jet which was the largest I had. I got it to fire good and adjusted the idle screws till it ran really good at idle. I was really impressed actually. It however seems extremely rich. For a set of carbs that were "set up" for this bike I am relatively unimpressed. I think I really need to downsize the main jet and perhaps follow the set up from dcc.
Here is the set up i have right now. 190 main - pilot 30 - needle 6F4 - 159 P-5 (what is this????) - Slide is a 2.5 I don't know how to check the air jet??? Some new issues arose though. I re ran a compression test once the engine was warm. Left side is 150 right side is 135-140 I know that's not great and will prob have a top end rebuild on my hands come winter but i want to run it as far as i can this summer and i will have something to do this winter. I am pretty sure the engine is running rich though with that jetting engine is smoking pretty hard???? I know this motoer hasn't started in quite some time but everything seemed to get really hot quick. I think maybe just alot of the crap burning off the surface of the engine but Idk. Also It seems like alot of oil is making it into the left side case.I know it's suposed to get some oil int there but when on the kickstand oil is dumping in there and some is leaking out of the case. I will prob just get a new gasket kit for the engine since a rebuild is inevitable but wonder if getting this much oil in that side of the case is normal????? also realize the bike does not shift very well It will go into first and back to neutral with little effort but not smooth going into second and sometimes need to really work to get it to shift back to neutral. Maybe once warmed up it will get easier otherwise more reason i will need a gasket kit i will have to crack that other side cover and rework the clutch basket. Well it's a can of worms. Fucker was running though. Not near safe. not near rideable. BUt damn it it was running .....cool.

Time for a little update. I have been working on body work as of lately. I did a whole write up on making my seat in another post. This is my second attempt as the first one was a semi flop and i just didn't like it so i redid one with better research/ measurements and products and it turned out to my liking.

I am working on doing some body filler work on the tank as well trying to get the knee dents smoothed out and ready for paint. I wasn't going to paint but i really wanted to fill in those emblem spots and get those dents super smooth so here we are . Did i mention i hate doing body work and am just cutting my teeth at it.

ON another note i got the engine idling well yesterday and actually took the bike for a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood. Got some funny looks as my bike is very rough yet and putts around pretty poorly. Got her to idle really well after i got the ignition system in order. Just have to dial in the jetting i think and i may have myself a good runner. Rechecked compression was 170 on right and 160 on left after warm engine!!!! Pretty happy with the bike right now. It is really killing me all the dirt and knicks you obtain while constantly wrenching on it but hey that's the breaks. I will never paint an engine black again in my life. I think i will rebuild it this winter and the color is def getting changed. Just shows everything.

Thinking of doing a 2 tone paint job with deep wine maroon and a cream scallop outlined in a gold stripe. Think Modified triumph Want the scallop to run straight down the tank and look like it continued under the seat and come up on the cowl. Contacted a painter to have it done pro. I got quoted $450. I know nothing about paint but thought that sounded pretty reasonable. I Know i can rattle can it for about 150 so i am tossing around that idea just don't know how the rattle can job will turn out. I've had good results in the past but i prefer great results. You guys think 450 is a good price for that described paint job?

just a little update have been working on getting the body work in order a little more smoothed the cowl out with some body filler and perfected the knee dents they look pretty nice if you ask me. I am considering pro paint but have had some random expenses recently and don't know if i can swing it might do a semi pro rattle can deal for now. I hate to do that but it's pretty flippin costly. Have had some running issues i describe in this thread any comments are welcome.

Other than that i ordered some bar end mirrors, some new grips, a condenser and some more jets from dcc. waiting on those parts and some time to get er painted. Till then I am gonna work on tuning these carbs I won't get into the issues i'm having with that as it is in the above listed thread. But what do you guys think on a paint scheme. I have pretty muched narrowed it down to three possibilities,
1. Wine with cream racing stripe bomber brown leather seat cover
2. Deep green with cream racing stripe bomber brown leather seat cover
3. pacific blue with cream racing stripe bomber brown leather seat
Really want to maintain a vintage asthetic with her and keep it classy san diego.

just wanted to update this thread a little. I haven't had a ton of progress lately. Working on the body work is slow and tedious. I have the body work all sorted out and rattle canned some forest green pearl. I am having sonreir make me some custom decals. I am waiting on them to clear coat but have spray max 2k and my booth all set up. I am pretty happy with the color and how the knee dents turned out. I got the tail end sorted out with the lucas taillight and it is growing on me. THe headlight is in place but i think i will eventually swap the headlight and brackets. I would like slightly smaller chrome headlight with brackets that suck the light in a bit more. Gonna roll with this one for now. Other than that just some glamour shots. I am desperately hoping to have her road ready by mid ohio. I want to have some miles on her too before I put her on that long of a ride. Thanks for looking guys and let me know what you think..
Ryan

got word the decals are on the way. Prob get her cleared by the end of the week. If by some miracle i have it up and running well by saturday I may take her to mid ohio. Prob not though sadly. I need to make a list of goodies to buy. I don't know how i intend to get parts back on the bike but will take a big pack. Prob look into getting some better headlight brackets/ headlight/ rear sets/ possibly upgrade rear shocks/ engine bolt kit. might try to source some upholstry work too as i really don't think i should do it myself.

Got my decals in the mail. Thanks sonreir. Got them on the tins. Oh my it's harder to lay racing stripes than i had imagined. But got them on as well as I possibly could. Got the first coats of clear on them. Now just letting them cure gonna wet sand and clear again then go to the buffing stage. Also found a guy local to do the seat. Leather is a bit costly so prob gonna go with vinyl I really don't like the look of brown vinyl so prob gonna go with black vinyl with white or tan stitching.

Re: Honda cb350 "got er in clear"

Just some shots with the cleared peices on the bike. I am gonna get it to the upholster guy this week. I am hesitant to even wet sand these peices as aside from one run the finish is really smooth. At least on the tank. I will prob wet sand and buff the tail section and see the result before I touch the tank. Spray 2k rocks.

Thanks rocketman. Yeah that spray 2k stuff comes out like liquid glass. It is so forgiving I have never worked with anything like it when it comes to paint. I am hesitant to even wetsand as it looks good just like it is now. The seat has a couple spots that are semi rough So i will wetsand and buff the seat cowl prior to upholstry but the tank will likely just stay as is.

Nice! I went to body shop to get some colors for the kz and they gave me the 1k colors and the 2k clear. They said they couldny do the 2k colors?

Lookin' good!

Also... if you get the chance, it looks like you have room to cut a couple of inches from the end of the clubmans. It'll help narrow things up for a more aggressive look and make steering a bit more responsive.

Yeah those dcc bar end mirrors don't help either they added about an inch to the end of the bars on both sides. I like having 2 mirrors i know some go with one but i think it's safer with 2 and looks more symetrical.

When riding from Pittsburgh to Mid-Ohio on the 400F, I only had one of the bar end mirrors. I wished I had two the entire trip.

Ya man! Chop those bad boys down!! :D

I prefer my bars narrowed as much as possible. 8) You loose a little steering leverage, but with a small to mid size bike it's no biggie. :)

Looks good though ax-man! 8)
