How difficult is it to reuse pin connectors?

I am replacing all of the wire in my harness and installing a motogadget m-unit. I’d like to keep the ability to disconnect components and ideally would just use the factory pin connectors. Any guidance on doing this?

If you mean removing the terminals from the connector housings, it's usually fairly easy. Each terminal has a tab that holds it in place in the connector. One-by-one, use a precision screwdriver to push the tab down while tugging gently on the wire from the other side.

You can probably get new pins and connectors from Sparck.

Usually you can pull the pins out of the plug w/ the use of a tool made from a paper clip or some other small-but-stiff bit of metal. If you haven't done it before it takes a little practice and patience and a bit of judicious poking and pushing and the pin will slide out. I wouldn't count on being able to re-use the old one but you can get a pack of assorted pins and connectors from Amazon and other sources. I got this set:

This kit also has bullet type connectors, male & female, that should slide right into your OEM plugs.

VintageConnections also has some of the tools that make it easy to extract pins and sockets. Others are available for diferent connectors. Google as needed.

Another possibility for you is the local GM dealership. The medium duty truck garage I used to work in had a full array of Packard connectors, terminals, seals in all sizes. High quality, simple, and serviceable just about anywhere. We could make factory looking harnesses for winches, PTO's or anything you could add on a truck/ambulance. I will bet at least one sponsor on here can provide connectors too..hint S.M.

I popped them out without much of a problem, ordered a kit that had the replacement pins and the right crimping tool (I don't have many electrical tools). Now, the hardest part is that I just have to wait for it to show up.
