How to make an old motor new again?

Depends on the condition of the old bearings. If they have hardly any polishing to them they are barely used, really polished they have had some time on them. Remember, the bearings are technically being touched, the film of oil should be the what the crank rides on. Technically haha.

I will bear that in mind. Seems like a pretty common mod as long as you use antisieze to stop the bolts fusing to the alloy cases.

never use anti-seize on those bolts, coppergrease is the right stuff. used it on all my builds where bolts get hot.

Some have some slight scuffing but that's about it. I will gauge with the originals and go from there.

The stainless steel bolt kit is not necessarily a good thing for the motor as the bolts are harder than originally intended and may wear out softer aluminum parts faster than normal.

Stainless steel bolts can not be hardened and actually quite soft. They fall between a grade 2 and grade 5 bolt.

Absolutely, The stainless/aluminum combo is the worst of all materials about galling. Be sure to use plenty of thread sealant...(your choice) I use teflon sealant. Its not anitseize nor is it lock tite. the teflon sealant is also great for higher temps.

What is "VAPOR BLASTING"?
Very curious to find this out.

It's a blasting method that has the media in a water slurry that is supposed to be a bit gentler than say sand blasting. It gets incredible results and almost gets parts back to new condition.
