How to make this seat look better?

I've made my own seat pan for my CL350 and I got some 2" foam for it. I liked how the seat pan came out, but not so much with the foam on it now. The shape seems a little odd. Anybody have any tips for making this look a little better? The CL tank mount seems to make it difficult.

Lose the rear fender and don't have the metal tongue come up onto the rear of the tank.

The seat should be flat like a skateboard. The Upholsterer can blend the front into the tank by making a "football".

Seach for "wrenchmonkee seat" in google.

the seat pan definitely needs to be flush on the frame. also, consider chopping the rear end behind the shocks and adding a rear hoop like a cafe. it would definitely clean the bike up from the rear.

What is this 'football' you speak of? I'd like to do as much of this by myself as I can.

Football, wedge, ball breaker...

I actually don't have a good picture on my laptop but it looks like a quarter of a football and transitions from the seat "flat" to the tank. They were big on 70's Honda Choppers, usually diamond quilted....

Nevermind, I think I'm the only one that remembers. I'm gettin' too old for this shIt... :-[
